Just doing a check up on the chain. How is the fishing, I want to come down and try it again in a week or so and was wondering if a mixed bag would be possible this time(mainly looking for cats). I know early spring the cat fishing was awesome. just wondering not looking for spots.

haven't been out there since opener but if you are after cats you should be good to go...we caught plenty on opener and we weren't trying to catch them.

Kind of a funny, a guy coming from the Brainerd lakes area to fish down here on the 'shoe!

Wondering if the river is up this year so far or not. I knwo last year towards fall, it was getting very low.

River seems to be about 1-2 feet higher than most years, and the really supriseing part is it is pretty clear, was in a spot I could see down 12ft the other night, suprised me!

What do you guys fish for up in the river? Is the bassing good in there? It looked like there were lots of logs in the water that would hold fish. Do walleyes stay in the river all year or mostly just the spring? I am talking about the river near the 22 access.

I have got a few nice bass up the river. It all depends on the time of year when you go up the river, how far you wanta run, and how high the water is. It can be very good up the river.

BNS, I fished it a few times last weekend, Smallies have moved deeper, some largemouth still shallow. Topwater, Jig and plastics were best. Fished mostly Horseshoe and Cedar Island. Good luck, you should find plenty of fish, but we only had a few nice ones.

I have heard in the past, it gets kinda crazy with pleasure boaters/other watercraft, on the weekends/holidays.True,or not true? There are always days other than the weekend to fish there if it gets too busy.

Yes it is true especially in the river sections. On the weekends fish it early if you can. Otherwise weekdays are a better option if you can pull it off. Otherwise you just will need to deal with it.

I made the huge mistake of fishing the chain today....I was playing Dodge the boats all day. Absolutely nutz on the lake and nobody cared about anything. Didnt catch but a few in the 3 hours I could handle the crazyiness.

Learned lesson there.
