Sucker run!

Now that the ice is off the local rivers, has anyone gone sucker fishing yet? I know most years the run is on in the beginning of April, but it has been pretty cold lately. I am dying to go fishing (for something other then panfish) and I'll probably give it a try sometime this week. Let me know if you've had any luck!

Suckers usually run 1st of May in the middle of the State - used to do it every year!!

I haven't fished the river for suckers yet, although my dad and I used to fish for suckers a lot on the Chippewa river in the area I grew up. I have been wanting to fish suckers again, I really enjoyed it. I know the St. Croix is suppose to be clean water, are there any concerns about suckers on the river? I have a small river near me that flows into the Croix, that is where I plan to try as soon as the run is on.

The suckers help to keep the rivers pretty clean just like finding lots of suckers in trout streams.

Anyway the sucker run is light now, but I admit I didn't try for any of them like in previous years. Pretty much get's full run when the walleyes yearlings move in as well. Pretty much begins at later half of Arpil. Maybe even this weekend????

Not sure if they run yet, but I fished in Hudson lastweek and had a sucker hit a Mimic Minnow! Surprised me. The quilbacks are biting though, right Jloomis!
