Does Marcum make a Magnifying cover like Vexilar?

I will also add, that if vexilar came out with a flasher that is better then the lx-5. I would not hesitate to buy it. At the moment however the lx-5 is the top of the line model. I don't know how anyone could argue that point. There is not one thing about the vexilars that is better then the lx-5. Except some of you like the flat screen. I however don't understand why you would need it. Except for the point that someone made about watching his wifes from next to him. I also feel that the screen on the 20 is not even close to as clear as the marcum. I know they are called flashers, because they flash. The lx-5 is so crisp and clear. I often wonder if it is even flashing. I also have a question for you vexilar users. Is vexilar a Minnesota company? I know the address on there website says minnesota, but someone told me it wasn't made in the u.s.a.

Hello all,

This is my first post...I've been a long time reader, but I haven't signed up to be a member until this "Ford vs. Chevy" topic. I'm sure both products are great, but I recently bought the FL-20 and LOVE IT for many reasons, but i have to say that i'm glad Vexilar invested their time into developing accessories (as complained about earlier) because, for a couple extra bucks, i bought the "beverage holder"...what is marcum's answer to that?!?! \:\)

now, i'm not one to put my "beverage" down while on the ice, but it sure comes in handy when i hook into that big one...it has cured my "beverage" abuse.

Happy fishing, with whatever product you go with \:\)

Wildspirit I am a little concerned with why you need a beverage holder. Isn't your beer suppose to be in your hand at all times? grin.gif I don't really consider it Ford vs. Chevy. I think of it more as HDTV vs. Tube Tv. grin.gif

Marcum Story

I know this story should have nothing to do with which flasher you buy for yourself. However it is a great story, and should be recognized. The man who posted the original story, had called vexilar and they wouldn't even return his call about a demonstration for the class. Thats why I was asking if they were a minnesota company or not.

Whatever you go with is up to you, but when I have my FL-12 and my buddies have there marcums, my screen seems much more bright and precise.

Which marcum's did your buddies have? I have the lx-5, and I thought that mine looked brighter then the vexilars. Last year I fished red in march when it was really nice out. My buddy that didn't go with on the trip left his fl-12 in my truck. So I jigged all day on a five gallon bucket. One hole I had the fl-12 the other the lx-5. Everyone was laughing at me, for having two flashers.

First time ever going there with the wife. Little spendy but they make some darn good piles of meat! We had the brisket! 😋

I have heard it's because of the drought. I know in my area ( meeker co.) the sloughs that they trap minnows in have dried up.

Excuse my ignorance, but was is driving the bait prices? Usually the shortage is due to a late ice-out from the swamps and streams. This year should have been much better.

I should probably learn to use the 6+ containers of lures I have collecting dust in my tackle box. We got on a decent crappie bite the last couple of evenings and I broke out some plastics.  I caught some crappies on them ,just need to build my confidence in using them! I did notice they didn't seem to hold on to them as long as minnows!

      Great news, thank Skunked

Minnows are 50 cents each, and leeches are $50 a pound.

Absolutely. I get full bars all-along the drive from Cook to The Landing, and out into Head O Lakes bay. I can't say that I've stared much at my phone signal anywhere else besides on my way to Black Bay. We still don't get much for service there because there are a lot of steep slopes with tall trees in the way. That was expected though. The tower is definitely providing better service to the area in general IMO.

Any updates on this new tower? Has it helped AT and T customers throughout the lake get better service?
