trailering equipment - legal question

blueroof

Question

Anyone know the legality of trailering a bobcat or tractor with the bucket hanging over the end of the trailer platform off the back (by a foot?) I would hang warning flags, just wondering if it is legal or not.

thanks, lb

Its legal as far as I know. This happens occasionally when we bring extra attachments along and the bucket must hang off the back. It would be any different than the legs of the ramps or something like that. I am assuming that the bucket is attached to the bobcat.

Ah, you’re ok, as long as it does not say “Such and Such Landscape” on side of truck. The Department of Transportation would get ya fur sure. LOL!

It should be ok, as long as like stated your trailer lights and Lic. is not covered. The main thing is to make sure the skid steer is bindered down correctly. If this is done and all the safety equipment is in working order, Mr. Department of Transportation . or Mr. State Patrol should not have any reason to pull you over. I believe two binders, one in front and one in rear. I like to hook my chain in four spots on the skid steer, verses four spots to trailer and two contact points to skid steer. I never had an issue being inspected.

Good luck!!!
