you do hit a few great points about the weeds and the eggs. the weeds have been going down year after year, and he seems as thow you cant find any, unless you are fishing the bull rushes on the west side of the lake!

I wonder if there is anything they can do to control the carp population!

Do they still run the aerator on this lake. Haven't fished it yet this year. They really need to get rid of the airator and let the lake winter kill. That would definetly kill some of the carp off and maybe clean up the water. Kind of suprises me they stock so many walleyes in a lake with a history of winterkill.

They had the aerator last year, but I am not sure about this year. I can almost bet that it will be on soon.

If they turn it off, the last fish to die will be the carp. They can handle extremely low levels of oxygen in the water. I think you would need to drain the water lower (and there is no place to go with it) and then retnone the lake if you wanted to kill everything and start over.

With the state being broke it will never happen. I dont think there is anything that anyone can do to control the population. They are gonna completely destory the bass/panfish population, but the walleye and channel catfish population should be ok.

The biggest help to the lake would be to get more of a buffer between all of those fields and the lake. Plenty of runoff seeping into the water.

I drove by today and the aerator was not on, and there were no signs posted at the landing. I would think the oxygen level must be getting low out there. Don't know if they plan on turning it on or not.

You want dead carp? Get a pot going or find a rich guy to put up a big purse and throw a three night bow-fishing tournament on the lake. Otherwise you could have the lake's association contact the fish and wildlife service and have them net them out.

From what I have seen they are all fairly small. They are new to the lake. You can't see them to shoot them with a bow most of the time cause the water is too dirty. I dont think there is a lake association. If I win the lottery I am going to get rid of everyone of those things in the 5 county area. So, carp fishing will be really good for a long time.

Turn the airator off and allow the lake to winter kill. It would kill a lot of game fish, but it would also kill quite a few carp. Once carp get in a lake its really hard to get the water quality back. Especially if its a smaller lake.

Does anyone know of another access besides the DNR one on the North end along County Road 21? I would like to fish this lake during late ice and don't wanna attempt drivin out to my spot. Plan to hike in to my spot and hopefully the hike will be less than a 1/4 mile...

That is the only public access on the lake.

The E shore looks ok too... Any good sunfish on this lake? N end? Haha, I plan to be lazy and hope to just catch "something" for a change. I know.. Being lazy is my problem. But I know people have done it successfully before.

I have some friends on the lake. I asked them where the sunfish are, and they replied: "They only seem to bite in the summer".

I have tried for them in the winter with no success, but you never know.

What inlet ? the only inlets I'm aware of are on the south end moisture permiting ! the culvert on the north end is an outlet unless very heavy rains in spring and summer when the river is very high and it might backflow for a day or two or three !!

Yes they turned it on. Gonna hit a few lakes this week and try to clean them up if the snow melts. I have seen some mangles portables still laying on the lakes. If you guys have time go to a lake and take an hour to pick up.

ya they have turned on the air rader, the hole is getting bigger and bigger as the days go on so be carful.....iv tried many spots nothin is bitting out there at all.

Has anything been biting out there at all this winter? I wasted time on 3 trips out there earlier this year, all before Christmas, and haven't wasted my time since. 3 small crappies was it.
