We could just as well put a name to them?

The bouy crasher/ hey thats my bouy guy.

This much less common subspecies of the bouy crasher acts exactly like the bouy crasher but when the bouy owner comes back to retreive said bouy this unbeleivably clueless species will actually tell the bouy owner that the bouy is his own sometimes even when confronted with the owners name written on the bouy.

I have been there! Had that happen to me last summer! mad.gif

OK so its late and I rarely have much to say here but to you guys that have no problem finding a fishing another anglers buoy marker and then say its public water are just un ethical. I commend you for admitting it though. Like was said a public rest room is public but do you share a stall when the are others available (even if they are not you wait), no you do not. There are plenty of stalls available (fishing spots) so why crowd another angler. I have many bouy stories and have seen all the species. When I am moved in on I will just move but its not right. I will never move in on someone else's spot or buoy marker. There is just tooooooo much water out there. I have seen many a post here that I disagree with but I keep my mouth shut. It is a public forum and with any topic there will be a verity of opinions but this topic is something I have to deal with on a regular basis and I don't understand why anglers have to hone in other anglers.

I have definetely done the dummy buoy - and it does work well. The last time I tried this was awhile back - but I put out the buoy in the afternnon - about 300 yards away from the spot I knew held fish. I grew up on a small lake and could monitor the action from the dock. Sure enough by early evening a number of boats had started to troll around my marker - but my spot was left untouched. I went to my spot - fished it for awhile and then when done - trolled slowly to my buoy - having to go right by 2 or 3 of the boats who were positioned about 10 feet away from the marker. I picked up my buoy and slowly trolled away - but as I picked up my buoy - I could tell the boats were wondering what the heck I was doing...because I wasnt out there at all near the buoy all night. grin.gif

Just because someone wants to fish the spot somebody else is on doesnt mean they cant find fish. I know a lake that has a very definite evening bite on a location. You are either fishing there the last hour of light or not going to catch fish. Many know about it. Just because someone is there does not mean I'm going back home or fishing somewhere useless. If there is room I fish. Common sense and respect go a long ways in all of these situations.

Couple of things

First off you forgot "Sheep poeple" these are the masses of poeple that follow fish house in the winter. If we take off with a rental for a new area in daylight it looks like sheep folowing us. We stop they stop, we go right they go right so on and so forth. On slow days I go sheep poeple trolling. I put my magnetic decals on and wear all my new sponsor stuff and drive really slow through the ice fishing crowds staring at my GPS while driving in a straight line sometime pulling a house sometimes not (depends if the sheeppoeple are agressive or not that day). Slowy I drive to some bad spot or dumb area and act like I am getting ready to set up, meanwhile guys are drilling holes and panicing to get as close as they can. Then the fun starts, about the time they are set up and fishing I give a couple of fake hook sets (remember I don't even have a hole drilled) then I throw the little portable in the truck and take of like rocket for where I really want to fish weaving and ducking like prize fighter on the way. Some pretty fustrated faces as I drive away and they just realized they've been had. Try sheeppoeple trolling sometime its a blast.

As for bouy hunters do what I do. Throw out five bouys over a two hundred yard area, that confuses the heck out of them. Just sit back and watch the bumper boat show. Good fun when the fishing is slow.

So remember bouy hunters next time you are on Red and circling bouys or following rentals is real or is it Jonny P killing time and you fell for it.

Did you have any luck?     I got a bird but didn’t really do much for pics worth showing.

It depends on a lot of factors, I suppose.   I hung on to my last gas auger for a few years after getting into electric but I never used it so I finally sold it.  Haven’t missed it one bit.  You bet it was reliable though.  Still started on the second pull for the new owner.   After trying several options in the electric world, I’m currently settled on a Strikemaster 40V with Liteflight bits.  With 2 fully charged batteries, I fish all day in Canada, cutting 10 inch holes.     What I’ll agree with is, if you search by drilling and flasher sonar, you will probably be more comfortable with the run time of a gas auger.  When you start incorporating GPS mapping, forward facing sonar, and saved waypoints, you don’t need to Swiss cheese every spot you fish.  I can still run through both batteries when the fishing isn’t great but I never feel like I have to count my holes.  It’s more like: Did I need the second battery before the middle part of our fishing hours?  If I still can’t catch fish after running out 2 batteries, it doesn’t matter cuz the fish just ain’t biting.   That’s fishing on the dark side! 😉
