McKinley Park in September

2 posts in this topic

How is the campground at mckinley park? I just browsed through the website and it looked very promising for a weekend excursion. Would be in late september...how is the walleye and bass fishing that time of year?

JB,

McKinley Park is a great spot and in a good location for yearround fishing! Very nice caretakers and very helpful too.

Many of my favorite fall spots are within a couple miles travel or less of the Park! grin.gif

Mid Sept. on offers some of the best walleye, smallmouth, and muskie fishing of the entire year!

Cliff

The only reason they allow you to have a gun while archery hunting deer is if you have a ccw. They did this because if they didn't it would impede on your rights to carry.   Thank you for contacting the Minnesota DNR.   You are correct, your friend is not. Even having both licenses, a person can't have both weapons with them at the same time. That person would need to choose which weapon and license to use, can’t do both hunts with both weapons at the same time.   Please feel free to contact us if you have further questions either by email or by calling 888-646-6367 M-F 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

I have caught them on Vermilion when the mayflies are hatching in the evening by using a fly rod with small poppers or may fly type dry flies. Just cast to the surfacing fish. A spinning rod with an Adjusta Float with poppers or flies may work even better. Cliff

I have also wondered why there are no Sauger in Vermilion. I have never caught one there or heard of one being caught by anyone else. Cliff
