Northshore walleyes/perch

6 posts in this topic

Has anyone done any fishing along the northshore (inland lakes) for walleyes/perch? My friends and I are going to venture up there late may on an excursion and I was wondering what lakes might be worth looking at? smile.gif

Devil Track and Two Island Lakes!!! They are both just outside of grand marais and are full of eater size walleyes and jumbo perch. They both have really nice camprounds too.

Is there a fee at the campgrounds or is it first come first serve?

First come first serve. Cost per night is the standard national forest campground fee, which I think is $12 (maybe $15) a night. Devil Track also has a resort on the east end of the lake.

Theres a ton of lakes with eyes up there. If you narrow the area down a bit more I can give you some suggestions.

We were thinking of hitting a few lakes off of the Honey Moon, maybe like Chrisitine??? Somewhere in that area.

when i fish for pike or muskie i use 40-50lb braid and an 80# fluoro leader about 12" that I make myself...never had a bite-off and have reused leaders over and over again...oh, and have caught plenty with this set up

Should I look for the cats more in deep holes now or more in shallow by bridges etc. Don't want your spot just general info. I know they can be any where but I'm thinking deep? Also would fat heads be a good choice now.

Well my ice season ended, it was an extremely short year, with not alot of opportunity to get out. Still caught some good fish and had some good times with friends, enjoy the video!

I'very never heard of anyone getting into them.  But I do see them cutting the surface early morning or evening.  Might be able to get a few on a fly rod.
