Looks like the middle of winter. Don't think the mushrooms are up yet! Ten Mile is within 20 miles or so of our cabin (Longville).

Thank you Trashguy! I love the web cam. I have been checking it regularly over the past week watching the snow melt. I am going to be up on Woman Lake next weekend with 20 college friends and was concerned that we wouldn't be able to play horseshoes because of the snow! It's great to see that it's gone! Now I will be watching to see when the ice goes out!

TRASHGUY,

Is that web cam actually Ten Mile Lake, or is it the lake that your cabin is on in Longville? Just Curious. If it is your lake, please let me know what lake that is. We have a place close to Longville on Hand Lake and plan to go up fishing next weekend.

Thanks for posting this..

AC

As of this morning the conditions on Woman Lake are as follows:

The ice has begun to pull away from shore and the lake ice has turned to a dark blue/green. This usually means ice out is within a couple/few days. It's close!

Trashguy,

I love the Ten Mile Lake Webcam. I have followed it on a daily basis as I anticipate the end of this years ice. It is also a vicarious thrill for me as we used to have a place on Ten Mile before we moved over to Leech Lake. Ten Mile is a beautiful lake. I wish there was a way they could knock down the rock bass population.

I also like your FM handle - "Trashguy."

Hey trashguy that cam is pretty cool, what part of tenmile are you on? My parents place is on birch lake near shady shores resort, they are also from jordan, looks like the ice only has a couple more days left!

Ice is gone. Didn't see any ice up to north of Hackensack. Didn't get into Walker.

The ice went out on many of the Longville lakes last weekend. The ice on Woman was starting to look like it was on it's way out before the big rains on Saturday and especially Sunday night which I'm sure really hit the remaining ice hard. The DNR walleye stripping station is up & running on Woman which is another sign spring is here!

Just got off the phone with a resort on Pine Point, and the lake is clear all the way to Portage Bay, and that ice is going fast. There have been several boats out this morning going north along the shoreline of PP. Dock goes into tomorrow!

Where is the stripping station on Woman, will be up this weekend and would check it out.

Along Hwy 5, just East of the McGuires Inn. (About 11 miles or so from Longville itself. You'll definitely see it.

I will be up there too this weekend to get the cabin up and running.

Friday, 4/27/07

Portage bay was clear of ice as far as I could see. Nice SW wind about 15mph and 72 degrees. Saturday it was beatifull and 75.

Plenty of cormorants still flying overhead.

It should be a good opener.

Much appreciated JBMasterAngler! I saw a couple of your comments on another DevilsTrack lake post, but that was from 2007 so this updated information is AWESOME !! LOL! Thank you! I am looking forward to giving it a go.    I have a bunch of chartreuse  and fire tiger rapalas too. Got a couple that dive to 16 feet, and couple to around 7. Hopefully i can locate a couple eater walleye. thanks again man.

Beanies is a privately held beach and company. There is no way they would become a free public launch site--unless they sold to the DNR. I know nothing of that happening. However, if you're patient, the DNR is building one under the new HWY 36 bridge with 35 trailer parking spots to be completed in late fall 2019/early spring 2020. Here's the article: http://stillwatergazette.com/2017/03/20/dnr-plans-boat-launch-next-to-st-croix-bridge/. As for fishing, right now with the hot weather and the recent mayfly hatch, it's been a tough bite. Fish drop-offs or channels and try everything.

Those islands are a good starting point. The mouth of the junco creek  (which is right at the campground) is a popular spot also. Gold is the go to color. Lake is full of cigars, but you should be able to find a few big enough to eat. Shorefishing at the access at night can be productive with leeches, but it's always those pesky cigars again. You might want to take a day and go over to nearby Two Island Lake. Has a much better population of eaters in my opinion.

Wondering if there are any free campsites in the Ely area, preferably off of fernberg trail or hwy 1 within reasonable distance of town. I know there are a thousand sites on islands or lake shores that are "boat to", but I'm looking for drive to sites. Being on or near a lake would be nice, but I'm not too picky. Just looking to make a trip a little more affordable, as well as getting a chance to explore the area a little better

      City launch in Hudson.

Somebody needs to find out where it happened and start throwing some big baits in that area.

No problems today with Chrome, so it must be fixed.

Without seeing the bottom of the foot, I have the same thoughts.   Sure could be a propeller hit though.

Was up for the weekend with the family and got out a little bit. Fished for about 2 hours in the morning and evening each day started out great on Friday nailing a 24" first fish but but over all fishing was slow for me. Saturday I zeroed but switched to spinner rigs w crawlers  Sunday and got into some nicer walleyes all 16 to 22" fish 1 mph perch colored spinners with the hammered looked to them with orange and green beads on a sand to rock transition. Sure was marking a ton of bait fish on the screen it looks like the lake is loaded right now.  How did everyone else do?

We usually go with 3/8 or 1/2 ounce jigs on the US side due to depth and current.  I do not know if these sizes help avoid snags.
