I was out sunday, monday, but couldn't go last night (daughters birthday). There was one person out in the hot spot last night.

The ice turned extremely bad from sunday to monday so I'm really not expecting to be able to get out tonight, but I'm going to try.

It is a sad day, late ice fishing is over. This is my favorite time of the year, it ended way to quick.

Time to get the boat and rod & reels ready!

I drove my wheeler out on Monday, seemed to be plenty good ice. Fishing was great. I love pulling panfish from skinny water late in the ice season. May have to hoof it out there this weekend though.

Things were pretty thin by Alex last weekend with 12-24 inches and lots of honeycombing. Your holes were square after you augered them out real chunky loose ice. Big Pine had 24+ on Tuesday night with about 18 inches or good solid clear ice. I thought it was over but might get in another trip. The bite wasn't as good as a week ago.

Sounds like putting the gear away wasn't a bad idea. Didn't relize the ice has deteriorated that much. Guess I've been to caught up in thinking about summer. Sounding like maybe get the boat out next weekend hard to say yet would like to get it on the water first as possibly taking it to lake superior in a few weeks. Thanks all for the reports keep em coming. Ooh forgot drove past crow wing lake yesterday and the north side was melted a ways from shore and away from the reeds. Just in a few hours the ice turned from white-black to dark black. With the temps forcasted it shouldn't take long now.

You got to stop by! One of the best fisheries as far as multi spices lakes in MN. The fish that come out of big V can be monsters. With that being said the scenery all over the lake is like none other. It's truly one of the most scenic lakes I've ever fished really makes you sit back and really enjoy what nature has to offer.

I'm hanging it up for the season as well. Yesterday we hit 371 bay of North Long. The walk in was a bit spooky. The ice is very rotten. It takes about 8 toe kicks to make a hole hole through the ice.    With that being said, the 371 bay is the first of the area lakes to freeze and first to melt. So, I think it's reasonable to say that a guy can still get out on larger lakes, like Round, Gull, or Pelican. That's just my two cents.    It was a great year with many memoirs made. Good luck to those that still make it out, and again, be safe!

My goal is to fish Vermilion again someday.   I keep driving past it.
