River Fishing Question

3 posts in this topic

I'm tempted to put my boat in the water this weekend. I've heard good things about fishing close to Red Wing. I haven't been on a boat in a river since I was a young guy. What do I need to know? I've heard to fish deep in the afternoon, and shallow in the morning/evening. Are people anchoring the boat, or drifting with the current? Concerning bait...what works here? I'd like to hook into some 'eyes, but honestly...whatever bites is cool with me. Speaking of walleyes - is it ok to eat them out of the river?!?

I'm somewhat bummed out the ice is melting, but looking forward to fishing this weekend.

Any help, is greatly appreciated.

Scroll down the list of forums on this site until you get to MN Regional Forums, then keep going until you get to Mississippi River Pool 4 - has lots of good info and everything you need to know.
