Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Went to the lake twice today. Once in the morning (forgot camera) and once in the afternoon. Started out at Fishermans about 7:30 and found the water a bit dirty and didn't catch a thing. So I went back later in the day to try again down at the cat hole. Things didn't look to good there either.

So I came back up to Fishermans Inn to stay for the rest of the afternoon. As you can see the ice is still around 10" thick. About two inches of white stuff on top of eight inches of clear stuff.

Spent the afternoon there and found quite a few fish mostly suspended crappies and found one dead northern on the ice. Still a good waxie bite with gold being the better color for the day.

This one came to a Diamond jig tipped with a waxie.

Beautiful day and it was nice to be out. Not many left and PLEASE be careful if you are still getting out. Test the ice once in a while for thickness. Because there are still a lot of springs and they have got much bigger and I sure wouldn't want to walk off after dark.

How did those cat's treat you?

If there is still a way to get on at fishermans, I might have to go down tomorrow night and try and catch some crappies.

Tell ya the truth. I never even tried for them. The ice was in such bad shape I just turned around and went back. The water was very dirty too. Only about three inches of visibility.

As far as getting on the ice at Fish, I just used a dock. The shore is most definatley shot.

Bring a flasher because they sure aint tight to the bottom like before. I was marking fish anywhere from two feet up all the way to just under the ice.

Went out for a couple hours tonight. Caught 2 fish. A nice sized crappie and a decent sunnie. Both caught on a small yellow glow jig tipped with a waxxie. Marked alot of garbage in the water, but was able to tell the difference from the fish.

Did well this morning on big bay with gold spinners. 24-26 feet off the edge of a reef. Decided since they were biting we'd try the west end to see if we could catch some big fish. Put up a big zero out there. Guess they behave a bit different from end to end.  On a small reef out west had a guy pull up on us, throw a marker right on the fish and camp out right there. Kind of tough to fish spinners when someone does that. What is the etiquette on this lake when someone does that? Just fish where you want even if you run right up on them or in between them and the marker? I see the thousand dollar  depthfinder in the back of the boat, just mark a waypoint and keep the marker in the boat man. Really grinds my gears. Whoops...sorry for the rant   Never had that happen on the east end though

Coming up next weekend to pull up the docks for the last time. Yup, my brother-in-laws folks sold their place on Frazer Bay. They owned the beautiful place just west of the public boat landing. They are in their 80's and are going to stay put at their place on Arizona. Been coming up for 20 years and now I won't have a free place to vacation at. Going to have to do some surfing for rentals I guess. Anyways, how has the walleye fishing been? Guess the weather will be quite a bit cooler next week.  Thanks for all the help over the years!

Not at all a typical fall this year; more like a July lately. When the weather cools down next week fish will again start to set up in their cold weather locations. The last two weeks I have found fish (walleyes) along thick green cabbage and coontail edges,  deep basin transitions along steep breaks, and also suspended over deep water chasing forage.  One thing that remains constant during this time of year, regardless of temp., is that the days are getting shorter and the weeds are dying. Key in on the remaining green weeds, if your targeting shallow fish, and utilize your electronics to find schools of baitfish in deep water, either free roaming basins, or just off steep breaks. Lots of patterns going on right now that are putting fish in the boat. HAVE FUN!

Fall is very nearby and things are going the way they should.  Fishing is good, it is too windy and the water is cooling down quickly.....On this weeks report and important bit on our very own Aquatic Invasive Species......Enjoy it!
