Dead Fish

2 posts in this topic

In the late 70's I saw a lot of fish wash up on the beaches in Lower Red. Near the end of summer I believe. I remember seeing thousands and thousands just beached. I don;t remember no many walleye being in the bunch. Does anyone know if this still occurs and why? Thanks for any answers.

Whitefish die-off due to excessive warm water temps.? That would be my guess unless you can single out the species of fish.

Good Luck!

Ken

Hoping things button up with the colder night time temps later in the week...all the crappies I have been getting lately have been shallow....and I'm talking even on edges of pencil reeds in that 8ft depth.  IMO they are acting like late March panfish, very aggressive and seem to have started the migration towards their spawning grounds.  I'll be out catching crappies even if I have to walk out...who knows...maybe mother nature will throw us a another curveball and it will get real cold again in a couple weeks. Good Luck!
