Closest Launch to Zoomers

2 posts in this topic

Well all thoughts have turned to the open water season down here...

Every summer we make a trip up to Winnie... My buddy is coming up with us for the first time... He's been reading all kinds of info on Winnie, and he wants to head out to Zoomers bar...

Problem is we're camping in Cut Foot Sioux, so that's one heck of a long boat ride.

We're thinking about just driving a couple of miles and re-launching... But he is driving me nuts wondering what might be the closest launch to Zoomers from the north shore?

Thanks WAY in advance.

I crossed over to the dark side of smallies about 15 years ago. Mostly chase pannies in winter but used to chase eyes a few times on the hard water each season.   I could post a ton of pics if you need more proof.

Sorry to make you hold up a bottom feeder, but we needed to see it!

I was up over the weekend and my shoreline was getting pretty sketchy.  Had a pocket of open water down the shore about a 100 yards. Where I could see the bottom in two to three feet of water.  Walked out about a hundred yards and popped four holes Saturday afternoon. There was 17- 18.5"s of ice in those four holes. Looking at the forecast I can't see the ice sticking around too much longer.  The holes I popped had 5-6" of pretty mushy cloudy stuff on top and about 12"s of pretty solid stuff underneath it.
