Going to hit Big Pine with my Bro-in-law this weekend. I will leave a report.

Still plan to get up to Red Lake in the next two weeks.

Hitman, got any ideas for a sunny hole I can hit at all in the next few weeks? I am not a panfishing guy really, but I have this niece (about 3 yrs old) who loves my walleyes when I cook them and now she wants to fish with me. I thought I'd leave a post up here this week to see if anybody would be willing to help me find an active sunny hole that I could take my niece to. It would probably be a 20 -30 min outing so I wouldn't stay long and like I said, I'm not a panfish guy by trade really so I wouldn't steal any spots you'd be willing to give. My e-mail is tstauss@stratacominc.com if you want to keep it private. Just a thought. I could give some Devils and or Mille Lacs tips as well in return if you would like. So, anybody that wants to start an e-mail convo about this, feel free. Thanks!

I hit big pine and it was slow. one 12 inch crappie and a bunch of little perch.

The guy next to us caught a half a pail full of nice ones on Saturday from 11 am to 1 p.m. -- We tried on Sunday at the same time a we got shut out.

Didn't even mark any. The ones they are getting are pretty fat but not very many of them.

Bison --

I really don;t fish for sunnies so I am no help. I know they are getting some on Upper in the Crappie hole -- that is where I would go. That or to Detroit --Deadhead would have more info on that lake.

Sorry, but that is what I have. Upper in 23 feet. They are fun to catch. Easy with Angle Eye wax worms and a vexilar.

Not much for size but they are fun to catch.

The crappies were going strong on Big Pine for a couple of weeks until there got to be to many people out there fishing for them.

Yeah, that can be a very good lake for crappie. We have caught some nice fish over the years in that lake.

All we ever use is a few bigger spilt shots and float/bobber with crawlers.

Anyone going out for the opener this weekend? I'll be too busy trout fishing, but I'm all booked up for the month of May on the Croix

Probably fishing Blue Lake ... or green lake, I have caught my biggest crappies around Opening weekend.  Might give a cast or three for some walleyes but love to fish Bass now, super fun catching those big ones!!   I am mostly a catch n release guy but like a good pan fish meal and looking at getting a smoker!!  Bass ... always catch n release, especially in our metro lakes to keep fishing good.  Was shocked how many people were keeping bass in a local small lake last fall!!  Doesn't take long to wipe out a small body of water.  Some fisherman think they have to keep everything they catch!!  most phones have a good camera on them ... take a pic and release for good fishing future.   Again, its OK to have a meal ... just know what, where, and your species of fish and how spawn and body of water applies to the lake size, ect...    Cret
