Moose shed antlers

3 posts in this topic

I was wondering when the moose shed in Northern Minnesota and if anyone had any ideas on possible areas to look. I have to drive from SE Minnesota and have always wanted to look. Never been in the north country after Sept and thought it may be worth a try..

Moose generally shed in January up here. March is usally the best time to look. Lots of Moose East of Ely and up around Isabella. Feb might be good this year if we don't get too much more snow. smile.gif

Thanks for the info. I'v bought a couple of moose sheds of ebay, but more rewarding to find them yourself! I usually find 8-10 whitetail antlers each year around here. Sounds like a good way to burn my last weeks vacation for the year.

There are two main spawning spots on Vermilion that I know of. I'm near the one on the west end of Vermilion. The walleye haven't been as good on this end yet they don't pull any fish out from here. They've been pulling walleye out of the east end spawning spot in Pike Bay, and for some reason walleye have been doing better over there.   I have no doubt that there are many variables that go into the equation, but you can't ignore that the end they put the 10% back into has been doing better than the one where they leave it alone.
