I'm looking to rent a small cabin right on Superior for a weekend at the end of the month. It's a birthday present to myself, but I'm taking my girlfriend who has never been on the shore past Duluth. She's a Minnesota girl, too, can you believe it?

I'd prefer a little stand alone cabin instead of one of the resorts, and know there are some pop and mom rentals out there. Anyone got a recommendation?

Ideally, and since it is my birthday, it wouldn't be too far from Tofte, so I could take her walleye fishing for an afternoon on my favorite fall spot down the Sawbill.

Oh yeah, anyone ever see a rogue king or coho in the MN Brule as late as early November? It's my birthday, so I figure I getta do what I want.

Thanks for the help.

Take a look at the Anderson Lighthouse. The Americinn Tofte takes care of the reservations. It is right on the waters edge, some amazing views... it would be a great birthday gift!! The website is americinntofte(dot)com

Good Luck.

There is one right at the Eagle's Nest Gift Shoppe. It is fairly new and by itself. My brother's Brother-in-Law owns it. His name is Dean. Great guy. He also takes care of the cabins behind the gift shoppe. These are right off of 61. Give him a call.

Don't take me wrong, I'm not anti-technology.  Battery powdered items will always have their place.  I'm mean you don't want your girl friend or wife in the bedroom playing for their gas powered adult toys!!  That would be a bit loud and smokey!

That’s right. My 84 year old dad loves his electric chain saw. Light weight and quiet. Besides, at his age he’s not cutting a bunch. Where as myself I want something with more power and heavier duty.  Look at how many people have switched back to gasoline cars after running one in winter if you travel a lot.   As long as my strike master works I’ll keep using gas. Maybe my next will be electric, but who knows,  you can find used gas ones pretty reasonable as others buy electric.

I think electric items have their places, I just don't think large commercial jobs are going to be able to work well with them. Can't see a logging crew out in the woods all day changing batteries!
