Camping on Duluth area lakes

2 posts in this topic

I'm trying to figure out what exactly the requirements/restrictions are for Fish Lake and Boulder Lake island camping. I have noticed a few tenters on a few spots and would like to try it out. Also, are there any good spots to recommend for a nice level site with a nice beach? Thanks!

Beach? These spots are usually small and a beach isnt part of the deal. Island Lake has a few nice sites though. No requirements just 1st come 1st serve. I wouldnt wait til friday night to get there though. On Fish I know most all are taken up by Friday afternoon if not sooner. More sites on Island Lake. Casaloma can fill you in much better than I can on this. Loma you out there?

For details fished 18 to 21 feet of water away from the city on ice. The bait that the fish preferred was again the smallest pug bug with black maki mino or white. Red, watermelon, shiner, and pink did not work. The snitch was able to detect the lightest bites as my dad was use a blue ice noodle and was not having any luck. Once I got my dad to switch to one my meat rigs it was game on. He was using a older st. croix legend with white custom jigs spins 3mm tungsten jig. He was adding a waxworm and caught a few fish but I was still out fishing him 10 to 1 or more. I did get 8 gills over 9 inches which was great to see for this lake.
