Where are all the birds?

Went out field hunting this morning and only saw 1 mallard and 1 goose! I've been checking the migration map on the DU site and it show some slight migration in NE South Dakota a couple days ago, but then I checked again today and this nothing posted for S. Dakota or Minnesota!

Well...

My dad, brother, and myself went out this evening for our last hurrahh for the season. Hunted the only body of water in NW MN that could quite possibly still be open. Hundreds upon hundreds of honkers were using the lake still.

Unfortunately for them, 4 of them dropped to our shots as a flock passed over us. What a day!!

Pics to follow...

I have seen a few hundred mallards feeding in some fields near east union/belle plain. Even watched a flock of 75 drop into some standing corn today-----never seen that before.

My buddys Dad found a chopped corn field in our area with 100's of gesse and mallards using it. Went out with them on turkey day. I have never seen so many birds working one field it was amazing. Even though the shooting was hard with that nasty wind. But someone else disovered it also with much more equiptment than us. What do you do? Buy more decs and mojos!!!!

Don't take me wrong, I'm not anti-technology.  Battery powdered items will always have their place.  I'm mean you don't want your girl friend or wife in the bedroom playing for their gas powered adult toys!!  That would be a bit loud and smokey!

That’s right. My 84 year old dad loves his electric chain saw. Light weight and quiet. Besides, at his age he’s not cutting a bunch. Where as myself I want something with more power and heavier duty.  Look at how many people have switched back to gasoline cars after running one in winter if you travel a lot.   As long as my strike master works I’ll keep using gas. Maybe my next will be electric, but who knows,  you can find used gas ones pretty reasonable as others buy electric.

I think electric items have their places, I just don't think large commercial jobs are going to be able to work well with them. Can't see a logging crew out in the woods all day changing batteries!
