Kennel heater?

3 posts in this topic

I heard that they have hard plastic, plug in style heaters(kind of like a waterbed heater) for your dog's kennel. Anyone heard of these and know where they can be purchased. I already tried Walmart. P.S. I don't want to put a light bulb in it either. Thanks, Andy.

I purchased a heated kennel pad a few weeks ago and placed it in the dogs insulated dog house with a thin blanket over the top of it.My two Brittany pups really seem to like it as they always come out of their house when I pull into the driveway,my last Brittany would drag all of his bedding out into the run area no matter how cold.Other than putting up some plastic tarp around the fence for a wind break and a heated water dish I think they are just fine...of course they do have each other to help keep warm also.If you place your hand on the pad you can feel the heat and it has a built in thermostat that senses the dog and keeps a constant temp.(supposedly).Mine is called a Lectro kennel heating pad and cost around $85 with shipping.Type it into Google and you'll find many distributors,Cabela's has them for sure.

I bought one from Fleet Farm this fall, so far so good. I put a thermometer out in the dog house and it showed 20 degrees. This was last night when it was 9 below. It's the black plastic plate, just put some straw on top and your good to go. The house I have it in is very well insulated too.
