Auger oil

4 posts in this topic

We have a strike master auger, and don't have any oil to mix into it, and won't be getting anywhere to buy some before Christmas. Just checking to see if we can use our Stihl chain saw oil. If so, is it the same mixture as a chain saw?

Probably not, I'm guessing the auger would run a leaner mixture, It's not worth risking by blowing up the motor. Get some amsoil-see other posts on this subject.

Your SM auger will tell you the mixture ratio right on the auger somewhere. If it is an older auger, there is a silver sticker on the powerhead which tell the correct ratio. It is small but it is there. I do not know if you can use chainsaw oil.

I have used Stihl oil for years and it works great. 25 to 1 is the recommended ratio.
