Wading this Saturday

7 posts in this topic

Attention all shore/wading fm'ers - anyone want to get out this Saturday? I'm planning on hitting the 'sippi (elk river, otsego, monti...) pretty much all day (7/8am-ish 'til 4pm-ish). I haven't decided where just yet but wouldn't mind some company - in case I get washed downriver LOL grin.gif.

Mike,

There is a possibility I will be going out on Sunday. If you can reschedule, we could do a float. If you want to shoot me an e-mail we can discuss the possiblities. The higher water should make for an easier float than what I'm accustomed to, and I'd love to start meeting some of you cats.

Sak - unfortunately I won't be able to do a Sunday because I'm a part time youth pastor and have some responsibilities throughout the day on Sundays. I did shoot you an email however. If you get out on the river this Sunday, good luck and be sure to let us know how the river looks - you should be in good shape for a float trip.

Anyone else up for hitting the river and wading this weekend? I'm looking into a couple new spots to test out Saturday. Should be a good day - despite how the fish are responding. One of the great things about wading the river is that you can spend the time to fully work a spot. In the fall, once you get into one fish, there are bound to be a handful more in the same hole. If interested in getting out, just click on my name in the moderator section at the top of the 'sippi north forum for my email.

The walleye bite on the East end of Vermilion has been very good since the opener. Some days can be a little challenging but we have managed to limit out every day out since the opener! Not to often that that has happened! The average keeper size has been very consistent also. 14" to 16" fish most days out. Getting a few slot fish also. 26" is our biggest so far but quite a few 20" to 23" walleyes too. Lindy rigs with a glow bead and pike suckers has been my only presentation since the opener. Fish are being caught in 14' to 33' depths. Cliff

Herky Jr. picked up a couple nice white bass, one trolling and one jigging. We turned them into delicious fish tacos!

Yah!  The foldable ones you can.    Or, if you don't get a roof carrier you could just leave one hanging out an open window or the hatch like you're making a lumber run.

They are BITING - bugs that is - har!   Bass have been very good some days and slooooow on others. Bugs have been awful last few trips. But the dragonflies have hatched out so they will be putting the gobble on the black flies and mosquitoes so things should improve.   Walleyes have finally showed up on the bank. Bass have been there awhile now. Went to Pelican one day and got some largemouths. The special regs there have really helped the bass fishing. Crappie are in spawning colors at several different lakes I have sampled this last week. Everything pretty much shallow but did get some walleyes in 15 FOW,
