Pelican,Elephant or Other Area Lakes

Recommended Posts

Has anyone fished Elephant, Pelican, Crane or other area lakes in the month of June? If so I'm interested in the place you stayed and how you did fishing. Looking at a family fishing trip next year. We like panfish (because of kids), walleye (any size), smallmouth (any size) and northern (if they aren't a foot long).

Any fishing or resort info is most appreciated. My last name isn't Trump so I'm not into paying $125 or more per night per person. However my wife has no interest in sleeping in a broken down cabin (I'm sure most of you understand).

Thanks for all info!

Hi Cobra,

Pelican can be a fun lake in June, especially for the kids. There's a very abundant panfish population and there's also a healthy northern/bass populations. As far as northerns go, the average size is low twenties, but I've caught them up to about 10#, and a lot in the 26-32" range. Walleyes are tough to find but usually big if you hook one. There's a number of resorts on the lake, not sure of the prices or accomodations (I have a cabin on the east end). If you decide to go to Pelican let me know and I'll give you a few good spots to try.

There's a new AmericInn just north of Orr with a pool and big waterslide for the kids, and I think their rates are pretty reasonable. Good luck - Lowe
