Lake Mary on the 5th

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I'm heading to Lake Mary on the 5th and would like some help. I was pumped up and excited to hunt down some 'eyes but now that the water level is rapidly changing will this hurt my quest for my limit? I planned on trolling the reads in the morning with lindy rigs and taking to the deeps in the afternoon with the same bait. If you have any other suggestions, or can help me out in any way, please reply. I appreciate everything. I'm out!

Hey zasteeg, My parents have a seasonal on Mary and will be up there this weekend- I'll get ya a report next week about the effects of the rain. I do think you have the right idea though. Also, while you're trolling the reed lines, try pulling a rattle rap in 5-8ft. That was the most consistent option last year through the hot parts of the summer.

Thanks, so what type of Rattle rap did you use. What brand works best and what color. I used the silver-blue rattle'n trap brand a little last year and got some luck. Thanks for the reply!

zasteeg...try a bluegill pattern...have had lots of reports lately of nice size 'eyes full of bluegills!

also, with the higher water, many times the larger fish will move to deeper structure. not a lot deeper to go on mary than 26 feet or so, but worth noting. otherwise, work the edge of the mudline, or outside of the turbid areas from the runoff...

good luck
