Opener on crane

I will be up on the 13th staying thru the17th. my question for everyone is obviously not knowing what the water temp will be those days, but where does a guy start looking for crappies on Friday sense walleyes wont be open yet. I went up last July and did great on the walleyes and caught a few crappies while targeting shallow walleye. I'm guessing starting on the north end of the lake then work my way into the bays? probably weed lines 8-12 ft if they are not shallow yet? thanks for any tips. staying at a cabin on baylis island.
