Dodgers vs Rockies... final out of 6th inning, throw pulls 1B helton 3 FEET from the bag and he still call him out... This guys is a CRew Cheif and post season unpire! WHy cannot the Home plate umpire overrule him or replay or something that was TERRIBLE! I know calls are "part of the game" but you expect at least competency.

I saw the replays of that and it was a joke. You could see Helton look up and sort of act like "what the heck, oh ok I guess I'll take it".

I'm not overly bothered by an ump missing a close play here or there but this wasn't anywhere near close. This was like calling an infield single a home run.

Players make terrible plays sometimes, umpires make terrible calls sometimes. Part of being human.

Just like on a double play, the second baseman can have his foot off the bag and it's an out. I believe many times if the ball gets to the bag before the runner, the foot does not have to be on the bag for an out as they are more concerned with a player getting injured. Many times you will see no foot on second base and still an out.

Maybe just a blown call at first also.

Yep so out of 176,435 plays this year in MLB you found a really bad one. And you needed television replay to confirm it.

We have to react in a millisecond on EVERY play, you guys get to sit there with slow-mo DVR's.

Had a guy last night come up to me and say remember that call you missed from LAST year....I chuckled and said, NOPE, but I do remember your wife is pretty smoking hot! smile

I've always said everybody should be required to do 3 things in life.... Coach a sports team, preferably an adult sport, Be married for at least 3 years and spend a year officiating multiple sports.

Try it sometime and get back to me ... grin

Last warning and you're out of here coach .. grin

Pier clearly didn't see the play - there was no replay needed to confirm that was a blown call. Of course they're not going to get every single bang-bang play correct, but man they ought to be able to get 100% on plays like that one!

I saw the play. I didn't mean this play I was talking in general. I too am dumbfounded on this one, probably the worst I've seen. And if it were my crew we would have got together and determined if the foot was pulled from the bag and got the call right. Not sure what MLB protocol is in this situation but they may want to look into it because that was crazy to say the least. smile

I've done your request pierbridge and still am, thankless job for sure, can't believe the list of enemies I guess I created what a bunch of crybabies and poor poor sports, I like when a missed call that has 0 effect on the game is still the big issue from the game.

Don't take me wrong, I'm not anti-technology.  Battery powdered items will always have their place.  I'm mean you don't want your girl friend or wife in the bedroom playing for their gas powered adult toys!!  That would be a bit loud and smokey!

That’s right. My 84 year old dad loves his electric chain saw. Light weight and quiet. Besides, at his age he’s not cutting a bunch. Where as myself I want something with more power and heavier duty.  Look at how many people have switched back to gasoline cars after running one in winter if you travel a lot.   As long as my strike master works I’ll keep using gas. Maybe my next will be electric, but who knows,  you can find used gas ones pretty reasonable as others buy electric.

I think electric items have their places, I just don't think large commercial jobs are going to be able to work well with them. Can't see a logging crew out in the woods all day changing batteries!
