Minnesota Fishing Report Clubs - ONLY 20 FREE MEMBERSHIPS Per Area - Join Today - FREE   03/08/2018

Fishing Minnesota has added a new menu item (see above) called Fishing Report Clubs. It's a way to keep the really good fishing reports coming and being shared only with those who also provide detailed fishing reports. We will only approve new members who request to join if they have already posted a recent fishing report in the area forum, associated with the Fishing Report Club area  you want to join. Initially we are going to limit the number of regular memberships, in the Fishing Report Clubs, to the top 20 members in each Club, to those with the best frequency and quality fishing reports provided in the club and less so in the regular fishing report forum open to all members. The higher quality fishing report reserved for the club of course. If  you want see detailed fishing reports/tips  around your area and will share your detailed fishing report as soon as you join, then Join Now! Some of the clubs are starting to fill fast. Use the Fishing Reports Club link in the Menu above (after you've posted a fishing report in the regular area forum) and request to Join.

RAGOM Golden Retriever missing- Orchard Lake area

Recommended Posts

A RAGOM rescue Golden Retriever apparently got away from his foster parent last Saturday and has been missing since in the Orchard Lake area... He was last sighted in the wooded area off Kenyon Ave on the west side of I-35 near the trailer park... searchers reported seeing a leash trail (he still has his leash on) leading into the wooded area off Kodiak Ct... the wooded area is between 175th St and Kettering Trail... Also, a woman called saying that her son saw a Golden Retriever with a leash on Orchard Lake Sunday... Apparently he was seen in either North or West area of Orchard Lake...

Kekoa is a 7 years old dark red Golden Retriever... he has two collars on him... one being a harley davidson and other being purple... He also has a RAGOM tag on him...

Heres the link to the flyer... Contact number is posted on the flyer...

Please KEEP a close eye out for Kekoa when you're ice-fishing on Orchard Lake or whenever you're in the area... Its very vital that we find Kekoa seeing how the cold front moved in tonite...

Kekoa respond to males better than females... Answers to either "Kekoa" or "Buddy"... two claps will also tend to get a response out him too, along with "cookie"...

Many thanks!!!

It seems that a leash trail has been spotted in Ritter Park south of 185th... This would put Kekoa in an area between Orchard and Marion... Just an update...

I post this with a very heavy & sad heart... The search for Kekoa has ended Sunday afternoon... He has been found but it was too late as he already has passed over the Rainbow Bridge...

Volunteers again scourned over the area surrounding Ritter Farm Park in Lakeville and finally found Kekoa barely noticable laying peacefully in the snow off I-35... It has been determined that he was struck by a vehicle and killed... it was also estimated that he was laying there since Monday or Tuesday... The searcher(s) who found him has said that it was obvious that Kekoa didnt suffer...

It was determined that Kekoa traveled approximately 2 miles south after bolting from his foster home, before a break in the fence allowed him to access the I-35 cooridor where he traveled back north for another 100 or so yards before crossing eastward, being struck by a vehicle...

Kekoa was released to his previous owners, who had surrendered Kekoa out of pure love believing that RAGOM would be better suited to help Kekoa with his severe anxiety problem which apparently got worse after Kekoa's older brother, Kainoa (also a Golden Retriever), passed away earlier... Kekoa's owners brought him back to Wisconsin for proper burial earlier tonight... Kekoa's owners made treks over here from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin twice to help with the search including an all-nighter drive on Monday night, arriving here Tuesday morning and again last Friday...

This tragedy has brought out the best in many who had volunteered in many different ways, from the search parties who endured cold temperature to the people who made donations towards the "Find Kekoa" fund up to members of RAGOM who spearheaded this whole effort... God Bless all of you who helped in every way possible and RAGOM... Even tho it wasnt safely, we still got to bring Kekoa home...

Yes very sad. I have fostered a few Goldens for RAGOM and have adopted 2. This is a very sad story indeed. Anytime we loose a Golden in the RAGOM family it is so to hear.

My neighbor at my cabin recently bought several acres adjoining his property and another neighbor had posted part of it-thinking he owned it.  My neighbor was planning on having it surveyed, so for the heck of it, I downloaded the trial OnX hunt map.  Only one pin on my property is visible in the winter, it was right on the pin.  We went and checked his property lines out and the neighbor that posted it, didn't own as much property as he thought he did. The OnX map property lines were fairly close to the actual lines, which were verified when surveyed.  If there are indeed pins or some kind of stakes in the ground, this should get you close enough to use a metal detector.

None of the GPS mapping or GIS can be used as legal documents.  The best thing would’ve been to spend the $350 or so for Title Insurance when the land was purchased.  With the insurance the lines are checked and any discrepancies are corrected. After that, yup, it’s up to getting a new survey. best of luck to ya.

Pretty nice weather and travel conditions right now.  The ice will be around for a while.  Fishing was slow for us today.

Spring is here, open water soon. In Feb. Navionics did a big High Def. update to many lakes. Several  lakes i looked at appeared to have great contour improvements. Two lakes Coon in Anoka and Ottertail in Ottertail co., which i am very famuliar with, were part of the group. I decided to compare the 2 lakes to Iakemaster so I spent the $30 for the 2 maps for Humminbird Fishsmart App. I also obtained a Garmin LakeVU of a portion of Coon. Navionics & Lakemaster very close to each other, Garmin LakeVU not so close. The screen shot has Navionics on left, Lakemaster cennter & Garmin right.  Boating App owners - great time to do the Update all.

The GPS ideas are great. Garmin Huntview for Minnesota is $79.99 and OnX has 7 day free trial. The plan is to have the property surveyed. I believe Cliff makes a good point, do it right from the start. More time for fishing less time messing around looking for markers and  buying equipment just to possibly end up having the survey done in the end. Thank you for your responses they have been very helpful!

I decided to skip Mille Lacs today. With the poor fishing reports and even poorer travel options out there, I’m hoping next week might be better. So bring on the sun for the next 7 days!

Got out to west rush early this morning. No slush issues while I was there, but that could be different by days end. The landing was quickly degrading in just the few hours I was there...landing on east lake is worse. Only caught 5 crappies. Schools were scattered and on the move, and fish weren’t very active. Ice was about 32 inches, which made hole hopping very difficult with an ion auger. Caught a nice sun burn on my face

Pike good luck!  Grew up fishing down there as a kid. Every so often I go back down there to relive some good memories  When I was 12 yrs old I use to fish down there with a couple old boys at midnight on opening night. Those old boys treated me as there own Kid!  And  I always thanked them for that  they taught me a lot. Caught a pretty good amount of eyes throwing jointed rapalas back then.  Its been a few years since then the old boys are gone fishing in the big sky above. But boy I still see there faces and smiles in my memory when every I stop down there
