Independence Crapie

2 posts in this topic

I was looking to see if anyone has been out on Independece lately for some papermouths. I am pretty much a rookie to the sport and my neighbor kid wants me to take him out tomorrow night. I fished it early this season with success for a couple decent walley and a ton of small crapie. I don't keep any and don't care what size they are. I just want the kid to catch fish and have a good time. Any help with water depth would be much appreciated.

The deep hole in the entrance to the North bay has a bunch of them in it. I was there a week ago and the fish were schooled 10 ft thick. Nothing of any size, and PLEASE real them up carefully and slowly. I had a couple fatalities early due to the depth. If you have a flasher or camera, you'll see what I mean. They werent biting real hard though. Good luck.
