Thanks for the info. What is the name of the place in Monticello? Any idea if they will open this Monday morning, President's Day?

Another option, seeing you're coming from Ramsey, is to stop at Ebner's Bait on Hwy. 10,in Elk River. They are usually open pretty early in the day.

I completely forgot about Ebner's - I'll be going right by there. But I was hoping to get bait up closer to the area I am fishing, to maybe get a hot panfish bite report. I will call Schumans and if they will not be open stop at Ebners. Thanks for all the info!

Most of our fish came on minnows under bobbers. I spooked countless fish with even subtle jigging.

I never made it out Monday was too tired from fishing Friday - sunday didn't feel like getting up early

Hey, Here a quick update on actual ice thickness or snow cover on trout. 14 inchs of ice pressure ridge out there. if you are  on a snowmobile if traveling fast on it watch for it. Truck or car i do not recommend on trout with pressure ridge. And yes i have been on the whitefish chain this year in truck. just not on trout. just my 2 cents

Thanks for the info everyone. And Borch that is good to know too.  I try to spend 2-3 hours looking on cedar each trip, but It's a lot of water to break down , and having only been out hardwater cattin 6 times so far I still have a lot to learn.  Generally I spend a lot of my 3 hours losing confidence and then wind up at the meth hole to catch a few .  Putting in the work is what makes it so fun once it all comes together though!
