Any Walleye?

5 posts in this topic

afternoon fellow fishers. I am new member here and this website is sweet. I have just moved into the plymouth area and looking for some good walleye fishing. I have 2 friends from Pennsylvania coming to visit on Feb 8-9. They have never gone ice fishing before so I want to show them a good time. Any suggestions for getting into the walleye around the metro?

Welcome to FM Dude! You need to spend a lot of time on the water in the Metro Area to track down those eyes. Stay away from crowds, drill in tight break line areas, and you might have a shot. Have a white russian for me! What part of the metro are you looking at? For me Tonka has been the best bet so far.

Thanks. Been out on Prior Lake twice, tried both the lower and upper portion and absolutely nothing. We could see the fish down there with the Vexlar but very inactive. Never been on Tonka before. What are some good areas to try? Is the ice safe enough to drive on tonka? Prior had about 20" of ice where I was at. Will def bring out the cocktails that w/e

They do well on walleye around the islands and points. If you have a gps with a lakemaster chip to show breaks and depths would be good also. Yeah they have been driving on Tonka also. I thought you were the dude from the Big Lebowski hence the white russian comment.

Been sucking it up on the walters since the cold snap. Heard they went deep, but I don't like fishing for deep walters. The whole air bladder deal coming out of its throat irks me and the fish. Early ice weedlines were the ticket, but those have died off so I dunno. Crappies anyone - cripes did I just say that?

The forum has do much more than fishing reports, hot bites, etc.  There's been more general and specific fishing  techniques, information and connecting with each other that has happened  here.     I can get hot bite information in a lot of places.  In fact many hot bites never do up on these forums.  Sounds like you've got a lot of information in a lot of places.   That's great!  Many of us have done the same thing.     Many of us have got together on the ice, in the woods or on the water because of.this forum.  That's what I've always enjoyed the most.     Hope to be able to keep doing that for a long time.
