Any Advice???

11 posts in this topic

Wondering if anyone is having the same issues as I am. I have been hitting Lake Tetonka pretty hard this year ice fishing, because I am stubborn and I know that the lake has a good variety of fish in it and I have always done well in the past. This year, not so much though. I am getting on the spots with TONS of fish on them. I mean I can stick the camera down and see 20-30 sunfish mixed with crappies, bass and perch with an occasional slime running through in a spin looking around. Up the camera comes and down the vexilar goes and do you think that I can get ANYTHING to bite. WOW it is frustrating. I have tried everything, different jigs, different baits, varying depths, weed lines, flats, rocks, I mean I have drilled more holes this year then any other year and have very little to show for my efforts. Any advice??? I know that I can go to Washington and other lakes to pick up some sunnies, but like I said, I am stubborn.

I have been fishing tetonka also , although the fish are tough at times they can still be caught. are you fishing with a vexilar or a camera ? I have noticed at times on my vexilar that they will race up to my jig and when within five feet away they will go right back down like they are scared of it . try a black ratso with a gold bead ar just plain black or Rootbeer colored I can tell you to my experiance most of the fish that do that are 8" - 9" gills dark colors have been the ticket for me

althought there are alot of little one there are some good bull gills to be caught if your patient.oh yeah you may have trouble finding gold bead ratso may have to visit there web sit and look under the precious metals heading

Yah!  The foldable ones you can.    Or, if you don't get a roof carrier you could just leave one hanging out an open window or the hatch like you're making a lumber run.

They are BITING - bugs that is - har!   Bass have been very good some days and slooooow on others. Bugs have been awful last few trips. But the dragonflies have hatched out so they will be putting the gobble on the black flies and mosquitoes so things should improve.   Walleyes have finally showed up on the bank. Bass have been there awhile now. Went to Pelican one day and got some largemouths. The special regs there have really helped the bass fishing. Crappie are in spawning colors at several different lakes I have sampled this last week. Everything pretty much shallow but did get some walleyes in 15 FOW,

Nobody needs that kind of grief.  I hope he's able to overcome that in short order.

Yes. Casey did sell his new boat and retire from guiding, at least for a while. He has been having serious shoulder and neck problems that have interfered with his guiding abilities. Hope that he gets this problem remedied soon and is able to return to guiding! Cliff
