mille lacs ice fishing where to go?

4 posts in this topic

First time for me to post something, My question is where is the best place for me to bring my kids ice fishing on mille lacs. I would like to only stay for one night at a reasonable rate, is there any resort that only rents a house for one night, we stayed at eddies last year and i wasnt very happy and dont want to experience that again. any suggestions welcomed

Any of the sponsor resorts on here are great. Pick one and ask them where to go to catch some fish for your kids. They will be glad to help you out. You can also check previous posts as to where NOT to go on mille lacs. I am not going to name names, but others have voiced their opinions, so it needs not to be repeated. Good Luck!

Most of our fish came on minnows under bobbers. I spooked countless fish with even subtle jigging.

Hey, Here a quick update on actual ice thickness or snow cover on trout. 14 inchs of ice pressure ridge out there. if you are  on a snowmobile if traveling fast on it watch for it. Truck or car i do not recommend on trout with pressure ridge. And yes i have been on the whitefish chain this year in truck. just not on trout. just my 2 cents

Thanks for the info everyone. And Borch that is good to know too.  I try to spend 2-3 hours looking on cedar each trip, but It's a lot of water to break down , and having only been out hardwater cattin 6 times so far I still have a lot to learn.  Generally I spend a lot of my 3 hours losing confidence and then wind up at the meth hole to catch a few .  Putting in the work is what makes it so fun once it all comes together though!
