Any ice reports for the casino access?

3 posts in this topic

Has anyone ventured out from the casino access in the last few days? I am planning on taking a 6 wheeler out of there Sat morning with my dad. Was thinking of driving towards Betker flat and Indian Point. Have you had any success in this area? Any ice thickness reports would be greatly appreciated!!

Lots of slush and I had about 4" of standing water on the ice if you shovel the snow away from your hole. I had about 7" of ice. I caught one about 21" during prime time, pretty slow. I moved around and didn't read much for fish other than 2" long perch. A buddy of mine went down by cove bay and rocky reef that same night and caught a few nice eyes. That's where I'd go. Who knows Indian might be worth a shot.

I went for a swim off of indian point a few years ago. Be carefull. It is a long walk to the casino when you go in the drink.

I have caught them on Vermilion when the mayflies are hatching in the evening by using a fly rod with small poppers or may fly type dry flies. Just cast to the surfacing fish. A spinning rod with an Adjusta Float with poppers or flies may work even better. Cliff

I have also wondered why there are no Sauger in Vermilion. I have never caught one there or heard of one being caught by anyone else. Cliff

Thanks for the report MNfan.  Too bad fishing wasn't better for you. Good weather at least. Nice to get out this time of year.
