Polar Bears

2 posts in this topic

I haven't seen one of those critters on Vermilion yet. confused.gif However, I grew up polar bearing on New Years Day when I was a kid. Is there any kind of polar bear event held on Vermilion on New Years? I certainly don't have an ice saw or the desire to put a giant hole in the ice but would go somewhere if I knew of a club or group that did so.

We of weak mind an strong heart do the Mallard Island jump off our front dock every opening walleye season around midday.

Also close the open water season by doing same leap last day up packen out island in late October.

Blue is a good color on some of us.

The only reason they allow you to have a gun while archery hunting deer is if you have a ccw. They did this because if they didn't it would impede on your rights to carry.   Thank you for contacting the Minnesota DNR.   You are correct, your friend is not. Even having both licenses, a person can't have both weapons with them at the same time. That person would need to choose which weapon and license to use, can’t do both hunts with both weapons at the same time.   Please feel free to contact us if you have further questions either by email or by calling 888-646-6367 M-F 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

I have caught them on Vermilion when the mayflies are hatching in the evening by using a fly rod with small poppers or may fly type dry flies. Just cast to the surfacing fish. A spinning rod with an Adjusta Float with poppers or flies may work even better. Cliff

I have also wondered why there are no Sauger in Vermilion. I have never caught one there or heard of one being caught by anyone else. Cliff
