Hey, My family and I are going to take a trip to Ely this Christmas to do some fishing and riding. I was just wondering if their are any good places to stay. Thanks, onlyslabs

Check the resort locator on this site....you can't go wrong with any of those properties.

We stay at the FM Inn. Oops I mean Paddle Inn. Cheap and ok rooms. Nothing fancy just a clean warm room. If your looking at something more up scale try the Grand Ely Lodge.

I would recommend the Grand Ely Lodge especially if you have kids because they have a swimming pool and the rooms are very nice. You can take off on the snowmobile trail right from your door plus you are right on Shagawa Lake. They also have a nice restaraunt right there!

Hope this helps,

Justin

I've stayed at both the Grand Ely Lodge and Paddle Inn. The Lodge is great with everything you need right there, including Ice Fishing if you want to walk/drive(?) out or rent a shack. You'll pay about 40% more for a room there vs anywhere else, but if that doesn't matter, thats where I would go.

The Paddle Inn is clean, comfortable and will work well if you just need a place to crash & shower while spending most of the day elsewhere. For us it has worked well when up visiting the family for the Holidays.

This year we are going to give the Adventure Inn a whirl over Christmas. Priced between the Paddle and the Lodge, (closer to the Paddle) we'll see how it is.

Haven't been home for quite a few Christmas' now. Really looking forward to it. Hopefully the eyes are biting on down on Sandy Point or Stinky Ditch.

Don't take me wrong, I'm not anti-technology.  Battery powdered items will always have their place.  I'm mean you don't want your girl friend or wife in the bedroom playing for their gas powered adult toys!!  That would be a bit loud and smokey!

That’s right. My 84 year old dad loves his electric chain saw. Light weight and quiet. Besides, at his age he’s not cutting a bunch. Where as myself I want something with more power and heavier duty.  Look at how many people have switched back to gasoline cars after running one in winter if you travel a lot.   As long as my strike master works I’ll keep using gas. Maybe my next will be electric, but who knows,  you can find used gas ones pretty reasonable as others buy electric.

This is the bait frig at L&M in Virginia, the other day. Also, added Highway 65 bait.
