O to the river!

2 posts in this topic

O to the St Croix river, a place of endless scenic beauty and great fishing I've been told,

When God created this river, He truly broke the mold.

People fish it from sun up to sunset and even through the night,

Hoping to catch some fish that put up a fight.

O to the river and all the fish it does hold,

boy if the river could talk what stories would be told.

Time spent on the water, sitting, playing, drifting or on a troll,

is the very best therapy for ones soul.

Walleyes here, saugers there,

more fish species then anywhere.

Fish are caught up and down the river there's no doubt,

but those of us that don't catch fish often whine and sad to say even pout.

To get the fish to bite all the time, your code name must be Turk

for the rest of us sitting in the boat sure beats work!

So get your fishing stuff ready and do your chores,

so this weekend you can enjoy the river and Gods great outdoors!

At least10% of all eggs hatched at the Pike River Hatchery are returned to Vermilion waters every year. According to DNR statistics that percentage is usually a much higher survival rate then if they had let the walleyes spawn naturally! I consider that a good trade off! Cliff

They should not be  going  back to area waters or traded to  other dnr  districts they should go right back into LAKE VERMILLION !!!  Don't ya think its time the dnr   should start to listen  to the paying public, us ! [trappers, hunters,  fisherpeople ,boaters and snowmobilers ]

Yes, they are all done at the hatchery. Finished up two weeks ago this Saturday (4/15). Just waiting for eggs to ripen and hatch to go back out to area water bodies.

Can not say for sure, but there is parking outside of the park next to the boat ramp and also a turn a round road.
