Lunar phases

3 posts in this topic

Just wondering if any of you fmer's ever fish by the lunar phase chart. If so, do the fish really bite around the given times they say to be fishing. And also does this only pertain to certain species of fish or all fish.

Just wondering. Thanks for the feedback.

I like to watch the full moon phases more than anything. I have definitely found a correlation between good bites and either 3 days before or after the full moon, especially from sun down into the evening.

The last new moon was KILLER, for me. How did it go. A 40+lb, 25lb+, 18lb or so Carp. A few 4-7lb Flathead Catfish. Two Large Mouth Bass and yes, a Walleye. All trolling crankbaits. None of the Carp were hooked in the mouth but that just made for a better fight.

Yes, I watch the moon phase.

Oh! I think I snagged a weed. No, It poped to the surface to quick. IT's A WALLEYE. grin.gif

Most of our fish came on minnows under bobbers. I spooked countless fish with even subtle jigging.

Hey, Here a quick update on actual ice thickness or snow cover on trout. 14 inchs of ice pressure ridge out there. if you are  on a snowmobile if traveling fast on it watch for it. Truck or car i do not recommend on trout with pressure ridge. And yes i have been on the whitefish chain this year in truck. just not on trout. just my 2 cents

Thanks for the info everyone. And Borch that is good to know too.  I try to spend 2-3 hours looking on cedar each trip, but It's a lot of water to break down , and having only been out hardwater cattin 6 times so far I still have a lot to learn.  Generally I spend a lot of my 3 hours losing confidence and then wind up at the meth hole to catch a few .  Putting in the work is what makes it so fun once it all comes together though!
