Sand Point Success II

4 posts in this topic

August 11 day trip to Sand Point's Grassy Bay - Fished 18-24 FOW and had good action when the wind was steady out of the SSW. The wind died during the middle of the day and the fishing quieted as well. Perfect time to have shore lunch! The wind changed to the NNW and afternoon/evening fishing picked up again. Walleyes were a little smaller than last year with the biggest at 17". Talked to a few other boats and they had a guy pull a 29" in a little deeper water the night before. (the smallies were shallower on the rock piles too) Thanks to all who post all the great comments on fishing, camping, park matters, etc. Until next August!

Thanks for the report Kid. I don't suppose you'll be making any day trips before the 4th of Sept? If so keep the reports coming.

Nice report Kid Zero. We were in Brown's Bay over the weekend too and cleaned up on the rock bass. Only got a couple smallies. We were in 10 FOW w/ crawlers and slip bobbers. Enough for a great shore lunch anyways and that was good for us.

I hope to get back up there and try our luck again soon.

Hello, I am a young angler looking for PONDS I live in the metro area close to Plymouth. I am mostly a bass angler but love some big crappie and gills. I have lots of ponds I know of and can trade spots, matter of fact I know a pond in the metro that is around 10 acres and stocked with a lot of YES I SAID TROUT and it is not courthouse. I will trade you spots and I love private ponds and would love to get access to some small private lakes or ponds. I am a catch and release angler just looking for some pond bass. I will trade spots with you just message me.

If you can bring your boat to shagawa which is close my friends up there are doing very well on eyes lots of small ones but pletty of eaters. Burntside is a not the easiest walleye lake but it is a night bite. If you like pout you can get some all summer long there. I like to fish near the little finger bays that have mud bottoms.

I would be cautious about removing seats and decks as they are usually part of the integral strength of the boat . If you remove anything make sure you add brackets or such to help keep the boat strength intact . For example bench seats that run the entire width of the boat are attached to the floor and both sides and help to strengthen the boat, if they are removed the sides of the boat are weakened, your modification should include a way to compensate .

The waves have been bigger than i've ever seen the past 3-4 days on Ottertail.  Don't know how that is affecting the walleye bite... but its a mess out here.
