Please Be Aware

Last Thursday my co-worker who lives right next door to my parents had an attempted break-in on her house. Whomever did it, got away leaving little evidence available to police. They are even taking the time two wipe their fingerprints from the scene. This is the 3rd attempt in the past 2 weeks in Gaylord. The previous 2 were "successful", but they broke glass at her place, so they quickly wiped the area clean and took off. Thus far they have targeted "nicer" homes with elderly or single people living in the homes. And it appears they make their attempts during the daytime when people are off to work.

There were subtle signs of their presence prior to their attempt. Pebbles from a planter next to her house were on the concrete patio 2 consecutive days, but she didn't think anything of it....just swept them away. She also had a plant alongside her house that was trampled a little bit, but again, she didn't think much of it.

There was also a break-in or two over in Winthrop earlier this year (just 7 miles west of Gaylord). If it's the same guys, they are hitting area towns a few times and moving on. Please be aware and conscious of anything or anyone that appears out of place. I know this posting is a shot in the dark and will likely not happen to any of you, but that's what my neighbor thought too. Since Thursday, she hasn't hardly had a wink of sleep at night (she's about 62 and widowed). My parents are on alert too. And being they only live 1.5 blocks from me, I'm on the alert a bit too with proper "defense" measures in place.

Supposedly, there is a grey suv involved in some of these cases.

Thank you.

Any chance they had a door to door salesmen by their house recently to this? I had one outside my house sunday afternoon, my wife was outside and he came up to her, then a police officer pulled up, she came in to the house, and the police officer took him away. Strange, I wanted to call to find out what he was hauled away for, but didnt. Maybe I should, but I dont know if they would tell me anything.

There was a young guy with a white car trying to sell me some stuff a couple weeks ago and told him I didnt want anything and he left. Did that guy have a white car too?

Those guys come by on an annual basis, and yes they've been around recently (selling cleaning supplies). I don't believe they are the culprits though.

Same thing has been going on in Le Sueur, Le Center, Montgomery and New Prague for weeks now. High school punks was the culprit there though. smirk.gif

What a great day jigging out in the mud. Little or no wind all day and it was pretty warm but fish were active, biting and large. A big change came yesterday on my close by spots that threw me for a loop but the fish a few miles away seem unphased. I will say it again a great day!

In the summer they seem to be about 20' feet down over 50'-80' feet of water. We trolled small raps with what ever would get it down there. I also had down riggers to use.  You could try some deep hook and slip bobbers with a worm in some of the deeper bays to see if they will take it?  Good luck.

I have a bait/rigging question. The kids and I were out on Big Watab chasing a suntan and when I told them that the lake has trout they wanted to try for them but I mostly fish sunnies and crappies. What would I need to get to fish for trout out there? Looking back in the forums I see that some guys use leadcore (I'm not buying new rod/reels) and some use bobbers. Any advice on a common bobber set up? Also, I have an "active" 10 year old so it seems that jigging works best to keep him busy, any advice on jigging for trout?

Update! Water is way down! But I was able to get a smallmouth with a topwater plug.  And a catfish broke my leader off a  worm, was very confused. Going again tomorrow
