Canada moose hunt

5 posts in this topic

I would really like to plan a moose hunt with my two sons aged 13 and 17.

Does anyone know the minimum age for a Minnesotan hunting in Ontario?

Anyone have suggestions on where to go and whom to get as a guide?

Hi, The minimum age for a NR to hunt in Ontario is 16 year old. Some of the other provinces may have a lower age limit, but I am not 100%. If there is anything else I can help you with, let me know. Lucas - Gateway North Outfitters

Thanks superbee.

I wish my younger son was a bit older, I want him to be a part of this hunt as well.

Do you know the age requirements of other hunting venues such as Montana or Colorado?

They can hunt in MT at the age of 12 as long as they have taken hunter safety, I believe that CO is the same, but you would want to double check that. If you are looking for a really good high success elk hunt. I know a outfitter in CO that I usually go with every year. Not huge bulls, but 5 and 6 pts are common and usually every one fills out. He also does cow hunts as well.

What needs to be in the boat, to be legal to fish Superior. I've been trying to find it in the book with no luck.

I just went through it. Now my pup is a giant lab, but it is fitting. There is a lot of knowledge here with raising pups. Just ask and you will get great help

I've tried to look for the source of this supposed information that the crayfish in Vermilion are high in mercury and same as the others - found nothing but stories like this on forums, etc...  In fact, I've typically found posts from someone on different forums, same name with that story.  In those cases, they state they talked to "someone" at the DNR in Tower who gave them that information...  roughly dating back to 2002-2005 time frame.   I'd like to think if this were actually true, there would be some data for the public to see to support it...   In the meantime, we catch em and boil them up every year.  Good eating when done right!  We figure we eat them once or twice a year, shouldn't be an issue...
