How long can I keep Nightcrawlers

Recommended Posts

LovenLifeGuy

I bought crawlers a week ago and have not used them all. How long will they stay alive in the fridge? I have them in a larger plastic crawler container that 6 dozen of them came in. They seem to die on me after about a week. Is that normal?

Thx, LovenLifeGuy

Are you by chance not punching a few breathing holes it the container? That and if the temp is too low you may freeze them.

I've kept crawlers in the refrigerator for at least a month by just keeping the soil-like substance they are in slightly moist.

I have one of those yellow ended crawler keepers. I use worm bedding in it. I had some in the garage fridge for the entire winter. Actually I had forgotten about them. They were all fairly healthy when I opened it up... I had been expecting it to be just nasty! I let them go in the yard, I figured after that they desereved to be free! Thanks all. FYI I'm located on Frazer Bay on Vermilion. Give a shout out if/when you may be on the water up there. I may give the Pike River Flowage a try tomorrow or Saturday. I'll provide a report if I go. Thanks again.

@Rick G, it's about the questionable link they left. Either something hard is going to popup. Or someone may end up with a virus. Or both!

I sure would like to see your video Curt, but can't seem to get past the error code myself. Hope it was a good one, and always look forward to seeing them..

Thanks Rick G that will be this springs project one thin spray on the top and bottom should be just right. Seems they all have this issue you’d think they’d do somthing about it.

I've got a 9 ah battery ordered in addition to my 5 ah batteries.   I'm thinking I should be in better shape.  But with the ice getting pretty thick I'll be switching to my gas auger soon.

Thanks for the replies I will be getting one today. Poseidon one thing to check is your blade sharpness Last year I thought my drill was getting weak I put new blades on and away I went.  With this open winter they tend to dull faster just an idea. I'm getting about 15 -18 holes per battery in 20 inches of ice also with same set up.

Teach them up in the way they should go. And they will never part from it! Great video!   Mom probably loved the day off too!
