Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

School got done yesterday so what do ya suppose i did today. I went fishin. Dad was gone so it was all from shore. But no worries, they were going nuts. Caught and released 12 smallies all from shore. They were between 12 and 18 except for one 20 inch hog. It was great. Get out there every body. Happy fishing.

The top water bit is really hot right now..... We went out yesterday and they smacked the top water.... We drifted from the camping ground in elk river to the weigh station in Ramsey and caught about 40 on top water.... The biggest was 19 inches but most of them in that 16-17 inch range. We did manage a few on spinners and tubs but the best action was on top water... what a blast. grin.gif

Shack,

Lot's of guys run that stretch with RiverPros. It can get pretty hairy, but it's no big deal if you pay attention and know the river a bit. It's nice to be able to run in 4" of water!!!

I ran it (Monti-Elk River) with a friend last summer who's got a RiverPro and then canoed it the next weekend, and let's say that my canoe took a whole lot more damage than his RiverPro!!!

If I had the funds, there'd be a RiverPro in my garage, and I would take you for a ride to remember!!!

I am sure it would be a ride to remember! I have seen the River Pro in action on video and they were not holding back any. Sure looks like a nice boat. When I do get another boat, River Pro will be my first option.

The thing about the ER section is you get hung up fast, and draging a boat in fast current is a "female dog" smirk.gif

You guys ever try going behind Sunshine Depot. That channel is white nuckle all the way. Sharp rocks and inch or so below water. Good times!

I got hung bad in the Rock Finder one late night a few years ago, called my neighbor across the river, he showed up about 1:30 AM in his boat, (after I got it off the bar,) WITH BEER AND CIGARETTES, WHAT A GUY! grin.gifgrin.gif

We then floated down river, drank the beer, smoked the smoke and hit our places about 3:30 AM! It was a great day on the water, the 4 blade went in that day for repairs. blush.giffrown.gifcrazy.gif

I might ad that my buddy is a pretty good pilot on the creek and the water was a lot higher than it is now. That year you could go anywhere. grin.gif

Levels are dropping, above the bridge we lost 4"s overnight and a few rocks that weren't showing yesterday are now peeking through. frown.gif

went out last night. 2.5-3" of solid clear ice. Single digits last night and still pretty cold today...wouldn't be surprised to find another inch when i head out this evening.  Forecast temps have been lowered a few degrees so we shouldnt be losing any ice through the week/weekend. Hopefully making a bit more each night. Breaking out the popup this weekend!

So there's a guy that wants to trade his Frabill 3 man side door entry flip over ice house for my one man clam Legend thermal Ice House. Thinking I might go for it but was wondering if I should stay away from Frabill for any reason? Wondering if I could get any input and if this is a good deal or not. Thanks in advance.

Total agree Topwater mix rules for a kid learning to muskie fish.  Kayak ~~~ At 14 years can by now control the craft & cast pretty well so mix of small to medium size bucktails and a glider or two kick it any time.  Host of things to purchase out there but really no need. Keep it simple, have fun, learn the lake, the fish, the food....he will enjoy it an be hooked for long long time.  And will he succeed ~ YES indeed ~ 96 & 3/4 percent ~  guaranteed.   : )     Keep on rocken!    T

I used to fish Lake Shakopee regularly.  I did awesome catching largemouth bass there with good average size, and never had any competition.  A couple years ago, they did some construction upstream by the start of the river at the base of Vineland Bay for road construction and they had to drop water levels to do it.  The flow rate never came back to normal.  Then they took out Buckmore Dam in the state park at the base of Lake Ogechie which also altered the flow through that area.  I tried it once each the past two years and only caught 1 bass each time, in addition to about 40 pike.  Every single pike was the same size, about 20-22 inches.  Just snake after snake.  Slime city.  I think the alteration of the river flow through that area has permanently ruined the bass fishing there.

Just goes to show that if you put the time in to eplore new places just to see if there is anything in said body of water..... it can have very good payouts. The body of water that we got the eyes out of i have never fished before. Grew up next to it basically its only 10 min from the house. When they started hitting all fish were caught one after another i have never had walleyes through the ice bite like they did. A new experiance and i was able to share it with friends. Hope everyone is being safe out there.

There's no reason to go on the frozen lake when you are catching fish like that in the open water of a river.
    • crappie king 42
No this is not red lake. This was a local spot in the cambridge princeton milaca area.  Nice solid 14-17 inch walleyes nice and healthy and they tasted delicious

8Went out locally here thanksgiving mornin on three inches of solid ice hot into the eyes really well. A week later whole place was open water again so we went out in the kayaks got 14 eyes than went out again now that ice is back went to same lake and had a rough weekend we only managed to get three all weekend. Went out on all local lakes they are all sketchy at best. Few more days to solidify that bad ice and should be good to go. Went to shakopee in onamia and there was a solid 10 inches out there.

Fully locked up. 3-4" ice early in the bay Looks to have had 4 explorers out already, by seeing their sled tracks.
