One of the more interesting, popular and charitably impactful Minnesota fishing tournaments, the 2015 Minnesota Fishing Challenge has once again garnered support from an impressive list of generous local businesses, as well as some of the top names in the fishing world.
In its seventh year, the Minnesota Fishing Challenge benefits the Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge, a faith-based organization dedicated to restoring hope for people struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.
Slated for May 30, 2015 on Central Minnesota’s Gull Lake, the Minnesota Fishing Challenge promises to provide fantastic fishing, with separate divisions for bass, walleye, pike, panfish and mixed bag. An impressive list of prizes reward top catches.
Teams may enter one or as many divisions as they wish, all for the $100 total entry fee. Divisions include bass, walleye, pike, panfish, and mixed bag. Bag limits are low (3 each bass, walleye and panfish and 1 pike) so all teams are in contention.
Jim Kalkofen, Minnesota Fishing Challenge director, notes that while the event attracts top anglers from all over the Midwest and Canada, it is equally inviting for families. “What I like about this tournament is that you see a lot of father-son and father-daughter teams. Lots of folks form new friendships here, too. They all come together for this powerful cause, which positively impacts boys, girls, men, women and their families.”
Adds Steve Pennaz, fishing personality and Honorary Tournament Director: “It’s impossible to fish this event and not feel the joy of the Lord working through you. Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge’s track record of changing lives shattered by addiction is incredible. I can assure you, everyone who fishes this event leaves knowing that they are making a difference…and that feels good.”
Event’s headliners are Aqua-Vu Underwater Viewing Systems, retailer Mills Fleet Farm and Lindner’s Angling Edge.
Beyond prizes from Aqua-Vu and others, the top 10 finishing teams in each division win fishing resort vacations, rods, reels, tackle, guided fishing trips and much more.
