Pale Walleyes?

Opening weekend we fished the NE end. Caught a limit with quite a few over the slot.

We caught 3 walleyes that looked pale and sickly. I seem to remember some discussion of this a year or two ago... anybody know what might be the explanation?

Bingo. We caught a lot of females either spurting eggs, skinny, gaunt, or lightly colored. We even had a couple with scuffed up bottom fins from spawning.

Love was in the air (er, I mean water).

Crankybaiter,

Are you a relative?

Those are stressed out females that have spawned. These fish have just worked their butts off spawning and are looking for food to rejuvinate their health.

Fish On!!!
