Fishy,

I prefer Michael Corleone's quote...

It's not personal Sonny, it's business!

He also had my latest quote which is how I feel right now about my beloved Pale Hose... They are dead to me! LOL

Just emailed with our old pal, Buzzsaw. He says hi to everyone.

Windy,

Since it is so recent and still in our minds, I have decided your avatar for the first week in July wll be, "The Broom" so you are always to be reminded who the better Chgo team is. How do you say it? "I haven't seen a beating like that since someone put a banana down my pants and let a monkey loose".

Hey Geno,

Do you have any idea what the total record is for Sox/Cubs since interleague started?

Windy

If you mean Sox vs Cubs, the series is about dead even. As it should be IMO. That's what makes rivalries so much more fun than a "normal" game. 29-28 or something. I can't believe they have played that many already.

Spinner,

That's about what I thought it was. Dead even. I will try that url Geno, I hope it does not lead me to some porn pic or Hawk and DJ in a hot tub sipping mojitos or anything weird like that...LOL

Windy,

LOL, I'm thinking you're lucky this is a family site.

BTW, Ozzie must have stolen your Corleone speech and used it on your team this week. Best results they have had in awhile. I wonder how the Godfather lines sound in Spanglish? smile.gif

Geno,

I tried using your link and all I get now is this stupid red x. I need some help from the techies out there, remember you are dealing with a computer dinosaur here.

I'm afraid the "Red X" means you've been marked for deletion.

Not sure if it's too late or not, but I think I'd start an "I love Joe Mauer thread" if I were you.

Windy,

Sure, nice try, but I feel you are not trying hard enough??

Just right-click on the pic in my post and save it to your pc. Then put it in your photo site (I use photobucket.com) and tag that URL as your avatar.

OR send me your email and I'll send you the jpg file for you to setup as your avatar.

Spinner,

Are you just yanking my chain? I have been a good boy, no bad posts or photos in forever. I sure hope that is not what this means. If so, I may have to reconsider my affiliation to this site.

Geno,

I will try what you told me and see if it works. I am not yanking your chain, Geno. You have seen me put a few aviatars up but it is always a chore.

OK Geno,

I got it to work, I copied your thread and then pasted it into the my home page. I think Spinner was just trying to stir the pot Geno? What do you think? Enjoy your spoils of victory, short lived as they may be, LOL!

Before I can answer your tongue-in-cheek "short lived" comment, I will have to research the schedule for this month BUT 5 games is alot for the WSox to make up on the 2ND PLACE Cubbies.

I'm a rebel, Spinner. Just the other day I tore the little tag off my mattress that says "Do not remove, Under Penalty of Law". I don't care man, they can't stop me!

Schedule looks pretty tough for the WSox (Kitties, Twinks, Tribe, O's, and BoSox) so I think you had better get used to a Cubbie avatar, Windy.

Tell me about it, and the Cubbies have a walk in the park for what looks to be 2 months at least. I guess I can take solace in the fact that I am old and can't really see the avatar too clearly, especially without my specs!!! LOL

  • 2 weeks later...

That's kind of fuzzy but hey it's your dime your dancefloor. Let's wait until it's official on July 31st. Remember,I will be up at Cass until Aug 5th so you may have to wait until then to see your lovely fuzzy red and blue logo. But hey, my beloved could mount a huge come back combined with the Cubbies going into a slide and then....

Monkeys could fly out of our butts!!! LOL

But beware the Ides of August (or is that March)

I have only four words of warning Geno.........

One

We all know what that spells....1969! LOL

Did you leave any mushroom swiss burgers at the Hole or did you guys scarf them all???

Plenty of M/Swiss left for you....got there later than I wanted to since the Kitchi pike action was hot that morning. I had a heckuva time docking at PHole and all the guys got a great laugh watching me - almost took out a guy's lower unit but I got her docked safely. Then after lunch we had the scariest boat ride in my 30 yrs to Cass when leaving the Turtle River back for BVilla. Out to O'Neils shoulda been 5 mins but took me 20. I was never so scared on Cass and I been out there in lots of big rollers before, but that day was the worst ever for me.

Be careful and stay safe.

And catch lots of fishees.

Oh yeah, and say hi to Brian and Commanche when you see them.

PS I would have really enjoyed last night after my Cubbies came from behind but your PaleHose couldn't quite give back all of their big (9 run?) lead...lucky you got Jenks.

But they tried they only fell one run short of giving it back! You got to love our bullpen! Buckvich, Dey and somebody named Boone, all those famous names that every other team is trying to steal from my beloved Pale Hose. I am sure they are putting the finishing touches on Mr. Buckvich's plaque for Cooperstown right now!!!! ARGGHHHHHHH

We've still got Cotts in the minors to give back if you want him.

Oh yeah, and that "early in the season" comment I made about Ohman.......I take it back now.

I just gotta love it when Mike North is talking about how he would love to have Ronny Cedeno playing SS for your Sox instead of that "fat guy who dodged the murder charge". Cedeno can't even sit on our bench as he too is in our minors now.

My first chance to gloat in awhile, so I know you'll let me enjoy it while it lasts.

And how about us getting Kendall?

Link to comment

not a cubs fan at all, but the Kendall move is a good one, especially when you look at what the cubs gave up to get him. Solid catcher and hitter and good in the clubhouse. I still think the cubs need another OF to make it really interesting coming down the stretch. Brew Crew losing Sheets for ?? helps alot. How much can Cubs gain with Sheets out?? That's the difference to me.

But we still will have the Cards breathing down our neck when Edmonds and Carpenter return.

If the monster of subs(Floyd, DeRosa, Pie, Jones, etal) that we have playing outfield can hold up, then we won't need another OF.

Long ways to go still. Every journey begins with that first step - just one at a time (beat Barry tonight I hope).

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
