LQP Update

outfishedagain

Was on LQP last night. The bite has slowed way down. We only had one 15"er and snagged about a 20 lb. carp. Water very dirty, thanks to the wind. We fished north of the Milan bridge, did see two other walleyes caught off the bridge.

hows the water level on lqp? two weeks ago when i drove through big stone refuge it looked like there was a lot of water still needing to make its way on through.

WALLEYEDUDE2001

Heard about 22+ lbs won, some zero'd, 1 - 4 fish for some, with some teams coming in w/6. Biggest fish I believe was about 9 lbs. Was out there this week end trying to stay out of their way & fishing area where no tourney boats were. Took pictures of a 29 1/2" that any of the boats would have liked but not another boat within a mile. Did see a couple nice 4-5 lber's caught on the north end.

The twin bridges area looked like a boat dealership. Pretty close hand to hand combat with only the "lucky" ones getting fish.

Sunday morning was cold & breezy.

Wow i haven't fished LQP for 4 years now due to the fishing pressure it receives. How has it been hitting? Last time I came around there it was freezing cold with 20 mph winds, no fish were present I just thought that fish were never in there anymore due to fishing pressure. Looks like some of you guys have been catching a few but it's still been slow eh? Thinking about coming back this year and giving it a shot. Been fishing around in the Central MN area for eyes on the Rum and Sauk River doing fairly well. Did manage to catch a MONSTER Eye about 29-30 inches on Sauk but it got away no net hehe its okay that thing would have been on the wall if i decided to keep it. But yes let me know how the fishing has been for the past couple of years. The Lake itself and the dam thanks guys!

I see you said you had been fishing the Rum River... How did you do as far as getting some walleyes goes?? I try the Rum all the time for walleyes, but it seems that its few and far between, still enjoy it though, not many people target eyes' in the Rum!!

Eh the walleyes on the Rum are very slow. For some odd reason maybe I'm not using the right bait. But everytime i've gone out there maybe just 3-4 Walleyes a day, they are in there just dont really know what they are hitting on. Been throwing out mimic minnows (firetiger, perch, bluegill, minnow, goldenshiners), Gum drops tipped with leeches and minnows, etc..... they all produce but its once in a while the eyes will hit it. I'm kind of stumped on the eyes on the Rum but everywhere else seems kind of less hard you can say. And yeah, there isn't a lot of fishing pressure on the Rum for walleyes which i find is odd. As for LQP looks like no one is giving feedback? the fish must be below normal levels this time around too eh? gaaaah fishing pressure sucks anyways yup.

Yeah thats my experience on the Rum... Never a consistant walleye bite on anything... As far as LQP, no one really ever talks on here about it, got my 'eyes out there last weekend for opener and hit the rocks the day after and gotta a few, I know the Milan bridge is slowing down, but I'm thinking I'll be out there over Memorial so I'll see how it goes!

Fished sunday 10 till 8:30 and picked up a few walleyes and a couple of white bass but couldn't find any crappies on the bars and was wondering with the high water they might be going into the brush to spawn, wonder if the water is warm enough yet to spawn?

Ahhh so how high is the water level? I mean we've been getting some pretty odd weather raining, cold, warm, cold, rain... etc.... This is all making the fish act weird lately. And im sure with the rain that has come through the water level stayed the same probably? Hmmm if all goes well maybe i'll come there over this weekend and give it a shot. Wiether i catch any fish or not.... hey oh well im enjoying it.

Boot lake is not open to fishing.  I checked typo lake yesterday. Really sketchy right out from the access about 10 feet or so. Past that there was 4.5 inches. I did not fish just wanted to see if I got the new auger blades on correctly

Nice Duff.  Don't you have a furs and feathers board, or you don't hunt and eat um? 🤔

Here's what I have in the man cave. I refer to it as "The BIG Board". Usually add a couple pics a year, this year I've added 7. (It's been a good year)   On a log basis, I've kept track of days fished on ice and open water, species caught, and how many different bodies of water per year. About to wrap up year 20 of doing that, usually just jot it down on the calendar at work and tally it up at years end. That log total list is on the side of  The BIG Board.

Any news of ice conditions in the Mankato area?

Wanted a smaller compact high ah battery for early ice to run my camera. Found the Milwaukee M12 comes in a 3ah version, ¼ the weight and size of the small 12v lead acid and charges in 30 min verses 12 hours. Also the + - contacts in the battery match the male outlet plug and work with male spade lugs so connecting it to electronics doable. On line I can get a twin pack 4ah under $40. Pic is the smaller 3ah with a 5.5mm power cable. Video is my camera panner in motion with the M12's.

My 4th year in southern MN. Seams to be normal deer running around where we have been hunting.

Definitely would give the season a B. We were very fortunate in seeing a good number of deer. I sat a total of 4 sits during gun season and saw a total of 26 deer 6 bucks the rest does and fawns.  We went 4-5 with 3 nice bucks and doe being harvested. Would of easily filled the last tag but my brother is a trophy hunter and is very selective.  Me and my brother practice QDM and have put in a lot of food plots and minerall licks over the years and it has really paid off. . Its a lot of work but the rewards are worth it as I harvested 5 bucks in the last 5 years this year a  Nice 9 point . Looking forward to checking our trail cams soon to take note also  of our buck inventory.

Where I hunt in the extreme eastern part of the arrowhead deer numbers show be low. My group of 7 guys hunted the whole season and saw 5 deer while hunting. A spike buck has been lucky as most have seen him and chose to let him walk. My dad took a 6 pointer that was chasing a doe. It’s not about killing a deer for me it’s about spending time with my family and it was a great year.    The population is where it it should be in the arrowhead. I am excited to see a possible wolf season coming again up there as it’s fun to have a wolf tag in the pocket just in case one slips up and comes out by you. My season was great would I have liked to see a few deer yepbut it was the relaxing I needed and provided me the stress relief I needed.   Taking out wolves would help the moose population so that is my stance!!!

Well I went out and checked the lake Friday am. All locked up. I walked out a bit and it looked like 2 inches. It froze over even which is good. Hopefully it's 2 inches out in the middle too. More info to come!
