Question
Bronze Backs
Motor: 2000 Merc 125 HP
I was going at a slow idle, creeping along a shallow river when I hit a stump. The motor killed but then the power trim kicked on and stayed on, in the down position. The only way I could stop the power trim was to try to trim it up from either the throttle or on the motor. This wouldn't trim up the motor, but at least stop the constant-down trim.
I fired up the motor and after 30 seconds, all of a sudden the trim started working again. Bubble in the lines? Something else? The trim worked fine after that episode, but I'd like a peace of mind it was a one-time occurance and not a potential ongoing problem. Any thoughts? How tough is it to override the hydraulics?
