Packers Fans

Even though I hate the Packers, you have to admit they have some real football fans. I can't remember if it was ESPN or NFL Total Access but to get season tickets you have to stand in a really long line. It was up around 80,000. WOW!!!!!!

What else is there to do in Wi. ? Visit a cheese factory ? Go cow tipping ? Standing on line for Packer tickets is more of a social event than an inconvenience . I live in Sconny , not much happening .

They are not litterally standing in line. The waiting list for season tickets is 80,000 people. If you hunt or fish I would say their are lots of things to do in Wisconsin. That being said....the Packers stink smile.gif

And there is a lot of tickets floating around in the scalpers hands also.

As I mentioned I live in Wi. and the fans here are not the great fans they are made out to be . When the Pack wins EVERYBODY is a superfan but as soon as they hit a slump , which they have in the past few years , Packer fans turn ugly . Favre is always the first one whos got to go . Then the coach . They jump ship faster than rats off a burning ship . BUT if the Packers string to together a win or two its back to being Superfans . I see it every year . They are fans just like everyone else , fickle & demanding .

I agree with musky same fans over here that you have in minnesota. They jump ship just as fast over here. And back on just as fast.

  • 1 month later...

When Moss "mooned" the Pack a few years ago, it was outrageous and fans and the WI media were all over how "A team would ever want such a player."

Then, when he was available this last year, the Packers and fans thought he was the GREATEST!

(sigh)

He's a good player..........you want your team to win, even if that means taking on someone you once hated.......I'm a Red Sox fan and wanted to name my first born Johnny, but now every time I use the toilet, I call it Johnny......it's all about the team.....

I am a Packer fan, I survived the Forrest Gregg years, Lindy Infante' and the second coming of christ, I mean Don Majicowski (who really cares how to spell it) years, and I can't forget roid raging Tony Madarich either.

When I first heard about the possibility of Moss wearing the green and gold, I said I would not wear green and gold until he no longer did. We'll see what happens in New England this year with Randy. Gifted yes, cancer in the locker room ABSOLUTELY! I think they should have taken a flyer on Keshawn though......

I agree with muskycrazy as well, but one difference you will see is the Packer fans will still show up for the games. It wasn't too many years ago, you'd go to a Vikings/Packers game in the dome and you weren't sure what team was the home team.

If you ask me that whole thing got blown out of proportion by whoever the FOX announcer was for that game. I think the last name was Buck. If you can't see the humor in the situation people need to lighten up a bit.

I agree with you. I found it pretty funny. You don't ever hear people complain about the vulgarities the fans yell at the players. If you are going to complain about it one way be fair and complain about both. Otherwise laugh about it and enjoy the game. grin.gif

That would be Joe Buck. He said something like, "What a disgusting act... and we apoligize to the viewers." Joe Buck definitely blew that one way out of proportion. I thought it was hilarious and I think everyone else did too.

Joe Buck should have been fired and thrown in jail! j/k

I'm not there, so I can't tell exactly what's going on but it looks like a large area of open water developed in the last day with all of the heavy snow on the east side of wake em up Narrows. These two photos are from my Ring Camera facing north towards Niles Point.  You can see what happened with all of snow that fell in the last three days, though the open water could have been wind driven. Hard to say. .

Black Bay had great ice before but a few spots near rockpiles where there were spots of open water. It looks like the weight of the snow has created a little lake in the middle of the bay.

On the south end...   Thanks to some cold spring weather, ice fishing continues strong for those still ice fishing.  The bite remains very good.  Most resorts have pulled their fish houses off for the year, however, some still have fish houses out and others are allowing ATV and side by sides.  Check social media or call ahead to your favorite resort for specifics. Reports this week for walleyes and saugers remain excellent.   A nice mix of jumbo perch, pike, eelpout, and an occasional crappie, tullibee or sturgeon being reported by anglers. Jigging one line and using a live minnow on the second line is the way to go.  Green, glow red, pink and gold were good colors this week.     Monster pike are on a tear!  Good number of pike, some reaching over 45 inches long, being caught using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring in 8 - 14' of water.   As always, work through a resort or outfitter for ice road conditions.  Safety first always. Fish houses are allowed on the ice through March 31st, the walleye / sauger season goes through April 14th and the pike season never ends. On the Rainy River...  The river is opened up along the Nelson Park boat ramp in Birchdale, the Frontier boat ramp and Vidas boat ramp.  This past week, much of the open water skimmed over with the single digit overnight temps.   Areas of the river have popped open again and with temps getting warmer, things are shaping up for the last stretch through the rest of the spring season, which continues through April 14th.   Very good numbers of walleyes are in the river.  Reports this week, even with fewer anglers, have been good.  When temps warm up and the sun shines, things will fire up again.   Jigs with brightly colored plastics or jigs with a frozen emerald shiner have been the desired bait on the river.  Don't overlook slow trolling crankbaits upstream as well.   Good reports of sturgeon being caught on the river as well.  Sturgeon put the feed bag on in the spring.  The bite has been very good.  Most are using a sturgeon rig with a circle hook loaded with crawlers or crawlers / frozen emerald shiners. Up at the NW Angle...  Ice fishing is winding down up at the Angle.  Walleyes, saugers, and a number of various species in the mix again this week.  The bite is still very good with good numbers of fish.  The one two punch of jigging one line and deadsticking the second line is working well.   Check with Angle resorts on transport options from Young's Bay.  Call ahead for ice road guidelines.

With the drifting, kind of hard to tell for sure, but I'm guessing about a foot and still lightly snowing. Cook end!

How much snow did you get on Vermilion?
    • Mike89
lake here refroze too...  started opening again yesterday with the wet snow and wind...  very little ice left today...
    • Hookmaster
A friend who has a cabin between Alex and Fergus said the lake he's on refroze. He texted me a pic from March 12th when it was open and one from 23rd when it wasn't. 🤯
    • SkunkedAgain
I don't think that there has been any ice melt in the past few weeks on Vermilion. Things looked like a record and then Mother Nature swept in again.   I'll give my revised guess of April 21st
