Lake Hanska

How was the fishing on Hanska last year? We are headed there for memorial day weekend and wondering how the fishing is. I have not fished this lake is there any structure on it at all. There is no map on the DNR website.

This lake is your classic prairie pot hole lake with not much natural structure, it has been dredged out in a few places over the years so there is some deep places to consider, the DNR has stocked this lake a couple times and also killed it off to rid all the rough fish. The last time it was killed off and restocked was 3-4 years ago I believe and so the fishing is just starting to come back again, this last winter the walleyes that where caught where getting up to the 15-17" range with some nice crappies and northerns also. The 3 place's I would consider on this lake is, 1-the very south end of the lake out in front of the boat landing, 2-out in front of the county park swimming beach or just west there is an incoming stream mid lake heading north from the south end and 3-up by the Godahl boat landing is another spot they dredged out just out to the south of the landing. There may be other places to consider fishing on the lake but these 3 spots are well worth mentioning and I think this will be a good year there.

There's alot more structure in that lake than people like to think, the whole south basin of the lake is littered with little bars and humps. The dredge lines and the drops offs are all over the places as well.

In the winter most of that lake isn't touched, people crowd around the landings and thats about it.

Word on the street is the DNR is stocking this lake in the fall with unused figerlings, I guess to get a more diverse year class structure.
