I would like to try this lake for opener, maybe.

Any thoughts on this lake?

I was wondering how the ice fishing season was this past winter?

the one in pope county right? Not to much for houses out there this past winter the water was really dirty from all the wind we had before it froze. Was a few guys out later that caught some. Shallow lake that warms up quick but likes to get dirty win the wind blows. few people gettig some cats out there now.

I talked to the guy at the bait shop at Starbuck, he said the lake really got fished down in the past few years.

He also told me there is a gate in the river to prevent fish from entering Emily from Minnewaska.

Is there any truth to these statemants???

Yes, the baitshop person speaks the truth. It was hit with extreme presssure on a hot bite and is fished down. It is a fertile lake and will recover with time, at which point it will get fished down, and the cycle continues.
